Changes
[ 2.0.0-beta.1 ] - 2026-09-19
Features
- Added a new culling mode that removes roofs, tree canopies and overhangs above walkable ground, together with the foreground wall between the camera and the player. The previous cylinder mode remains selectable (Culling Mode: Old / New).
- Added indoor ceiling culling: while inside a detected building, a horizontal slice at and above the player's floor ceiling is removed.
- Added "Disable Fade Indoors" to skip the translucent boundary fade while indoors (blocks are still culled).
- Added fade smoothing half-life to reduce flickering of faded blocks while moving.
- Added a Hittable toggle for proximity translucency, controlling whether proximity-displayed blocks can be hit.
- Added gradual acceleration mode for auto-rotation.
- Added a performance monitor overlay (FPS and per-phase timings) together with a summary logged every 5 seconds.
- Added Fast Paintings compatibility so vertically connected structures such as paintings are treated as a single unit.
- Attempted Distant Horizons compatibility: LOD sections fully inside the vanilla render distance are culled so the DH range matches the vanilla view.
- Added data-driven interaction overrides via config/topdown_view/interactions.json, allowing blocks to be excluded from or added to interaction prompts and protection.
- Added several brand-new bugs so you have something to look forward to.
Bug Fixes
- Fixed the glowing effect not being cleared when leaving the top-down view.
- Fixed particles not being generated when the camera is far from the player.
- Fixed proximity translucency applying to blocks that were not culled, which created a box-shaped hole around the player. Only already-culled blocks are made translucent now.
- Fixed faded blocks appearing to glow where the return ghost overlapped the restored block.
- Fixed the interaction prompt frame scaling with camera zoom.
Performance
- Improved overall culling performance.
- Moved space probing to a background thread so the render thread is no longer blocked.
Changes
- The FOV can now be set as low as 5.
Projects on Modrinth are automatically available through a Maven repository for use with JVM build tools such as Gradle. To learn more about the Modrinth Maven API, click here.
Note: When available, you should use the creator's maven repo instead as it will have transitive dependency information that the Modrinth Maven API does not. You may also end up with duplicate dependencies if you use a mix of Modrinth and non-Modrinth Maven repositories for your dependencies, because the group identifier will be different when served through the Modrinth Maven API.
