Happy Halloween! For version 0.8.0, we have a spooky update for all of you, filled with all kinds of new mechanics, new ways to expand your world, (a lot of new bugs to be honest, but we'll work through those) and to match the season: vampires and werewolves!
Some of the other big highlights are a new immersive way to manage the work your villagers are doing, temperature needs (and a full on climate model, actually) when paired with temperature providing mods such as Cold Sweat, Legendary Survival Overhaul, and Tough as Nail (and yes, seasonal support is in there too), as well as a clothing system with Curios support for your villagers to dress for the cold, or the warmth.
One big caveat up front: where's 1.21.1? Soon! It's tied to the new MCA:R and that one is also still cooking. But I wanted to go ahead with 1.20.1 for now.
Otherwise though, I hope you enjoy 0.8.0, and please keep sharing with me what you love about the mod, your suggestions, and your bugs!
- Many new compats, including a lot of Let's Do (albeit a bit before the latest updates) and Kaleidoscope.
- Order Sheets to allow you to control what your villagers produce, and how much of it.
- Career system that earns you and your villagers skills that you can use, and lets creators create custom professions.
- Radial wheel that allows you to set quick keyboard shortcuts and also discover your roots' abilities.
- New Root support for mod-supported roots like Ribbits, as well as some new Pheno rules to make more advanced abilities, as well as different flight and swim types.
- Temperature and climate system that works with Cold Sweat, Legendary Survival Overhaul, and Tough As Nails that affects both you and your villagers, and unlocks new gameplay around heat management, and clothing layers.
- Curios support for your villagers so they can wear new threads and various accessories.
- Wardrobe menu that lets you select outfits for them on various days.
- Villager dialogue and hangouts for villagers to talk to each other either idly, or in hangouts. The conversations are procedurally generated to be more unique and will sometimes reflect events that happened to them.
- Updated catalogue that gives you more filtering and grouping options, as well as support for Decorations to change your community spirit.
- Tracking menu for buildings to help you figure out what's the next block to put down to finish that building.
- Quest Journal that combines various quest sources, such as achievements, MCA: Quests, Bountiful, FTB Quests, and a growing library in the future.
- Villager cultures that shape how the villagers dress, talk, and the types of buildings generated villages build.
- Better resource HUD (mana bar) to give custom styles to your root or career abilities.
- Serving Plates to display food that's been made and keep your restaurants, bakeries, and cafes stocked.
- Data-driven needs consumables so that various mod food can have their various effects ported in easily for your villagers' needs.
- Livery & Heraldry to give your guards custom appearances per your villages and factions.
- Jade integration to show more integrated information, as well as changing the aging to be days rather than seconds to more accurately reflect how it works in Townstead.
- Surnames for your villagers, which is compatible with MCA: Capitals.
- JEP preview showing your villagers, instead of the vanilla Minecraft ones.
- Persona which are dynamically generated NPCs that can be scripted with stories that creators can author and bring in as data packs. To help introduce systems, Townstead will come with a series of tutorial NPCs, that explain the systems, but also have their own story.
- Vampirism, Werewolf mod support, complete with a Hunter storyline. Your MCA villagers, with custom root support as well, can become vampires or werewolves, and the new Aspects system lets you pick one on start. New behaviour for villagers and mobs from the mod, who will now take the appearance of MCA villagers including your roots to make it more immersive.
- Better storage system which is definable in data packs, and comes with preferred storage buildings such as the new Granary for farmers. Much more work to be done to truly solve this, and hoping to have that even more improved in future expansions.
- New animations for the villagers, such as sitting, passing out, being tired, hot, and warm.
- Bells Bells Bells integration to start villages from scratch by being able to craft a bell.
- Rebirth and support for MCA Descendants to be able to be reborn as anyone on death, or to take the journey to become one of your descendants.
- Benchstead plugin, not much here, but in the near future the ability to edit roots directly from Blockbench and have it live update in Minecraft.
- Switchboard that gives you much more control over which pieces of Townstead that you want to bring in or not, and to configure how you want it in your game.
- And more that I've likely forgotten, but you can treat them as Halloween treats!

Projects on Modrinth are automatically available through a Maven repository for use with JVM build tools such as Gradle. To learn more about the Modrinth Maven API, click here.
Note: When available, you should use the creator's maven repo instead as it will have transitive dependency information that the Modrinth Maven API does not. You may also end up with duplicate dependencies if you use a mix of Modrinth and non-Modrinth Maven repositories for your dependencies, because the group identifier will be different when served through the Modrinth Maven API.
