Simple Map v2.0.0 — Release
This release promotes v2.0.0-beta to the official stable release, focusing on major Cave Mode enhancements, universal modded block compatibility, smoother map performance, and UI polish.
Cave Mapping & Lighting Fixes
- Consistent Cave Lighting: Fixed brightness mismatches between loaded and distant cached regions when Cave Light is set to OFF.
- Instant Brightness Cycling: Switching map brightness (
Day/Auto/Night) now applies instantly in 0 ms without reloading map regions or LODs. - Overbright Lava Glow Fixed: Resolved overexposed white pixel halos around lava in Nether and deep cave regions.
- Deep Nether & Cave Scanning: Fixed solid roof detection so deep Nether layers (
Y <= 29), Ancient Debris tunnels, and oceans of lava render cleanly.
Universal Mod & Block Compatibility
- Universal Color Engine: Automatically samples the true in-game colors of any block from vanilla and mods (Regions Unexplored, Biomes O' Plenty, Alex's Caves, etc.) directly from GPU models.
- Achromatic Leaves & Foliage Fix: Resolved grayscale/stone-like leaves (e.g. Socotra Leaves); modded foliage and grass now adapt smoothly to biome colors while preserving naturally vibrant leaves (Cherry, Autumn foliage).
- Chunk Border Seams Eliminated: Fixed color seams along 16x16 chunk boundaries for modded blocks and custom fluids.
Performance & World Loading
- Pre-Existing World Backfill: Opening older world saves now automatically recovers and renders all previously explored regions (
.mca) across all dimensions in Surface Mode. - Smooth Panning & Zero Tearing: Hardware VSync and retained framebuffer composition provide silky-smooth 120+ FPS map dragging with near-zero stutter.
- Strict Dimension Isolation: Fixed cross-dimension chunk and biome leakage when traveling between the Overworld, Nether, and The End.
UI & Minimap Polish
- Round & Square Minimap: Fixed circular minimap clipping; switching between Round and Square shapes is now seamless and instant.
- Waypoint Management: Right-clicking waypoints on the world map now allows direct in-place editing. Waypoint icons now render smoothly on the minimap.
- Dimension Switcher: Intelligently lists only visited dimensions with saved map data, scaling camera coordinates accurately between the Overworld and Nether.
Projects on Modrinth are automatically available through a Maven repository for use with JVM build tools such as Gradle. To learn more about the Modrinth Maven API, click here.
Note: When available, you should use the creator's maven repo instead as it will have transitive dependency information that the Modrinth Maven API does not. You may also end up with duplicate dependencies if you use a mix of Modrinth and non-Modrinth Maven repositories for your dependencies, because the group identifier will be different when served through the Modrinth Maven API.
