Changes
[1.1.17-26.1.2] - 2026-08-24
Changed
- AI/Movement & Core Architectural Overhaul:
- Re-engineered
@Inject(method = "customServerAiStep")inBatMixin.javato inject at@At("HEAD")withcancellable = true. - Vanilla Flight Jitter Elimination: Fixed a critical movement conflict where vanilla
Bat.customServerAiStepran every single tick when flying, randomly selecting target coordinates in a 7-block box and overridingsetDeltaMovement. By cancelling vanilla's flying step (ci.cancel()),BatFlightHelperand active AI goals (BatHuntLightGoal,BatDiveBombGoal,BatSleepGoal,BatPanicGoal) now have 100% clean, unperturbed control over bat flight trajectories. - Vanilla Resting Waking Retained: Preserved vanilla resting checks (waking up when a player is within 4 blocks, when the ceiling block breaks, or with a 1/200 random chance at night). Added a 1/100 random chance for flying bats to rest if a solid ceiling block (
isRedstoneConductor) is detected above.
- Re-engineered
- AI/Rotation Smoothing:
- Replaced instant 90ยฐ yaw snapping with smooth 3-axis rotational lerping using
Mth.approachDegrees(self.getYRot(), targetYaw, 12.0F)(clamped to 12ยฐ per tick maximum). - Synchronously updated
yRot,yHeadRot, andyBodyRoton every tick, eliminating abrupt visual snapping and making turns and banking look completely organic.
- Replaced instant 90ยฐ yaw snapping with smooth 3-axis rotational lerping using
- AI/Guano Production & Particle Polish:
- Enhanced diegetic visual feedback during guano fertilization. When a roosting bat fertilizes a crop below, it now triggers both vanilla bone meal particles/sound (
levelEvent(2005)) and a burst of green villager happy particles (ParticleTypes.HAPPY_VILLAGER). - Added visual guano particle effects (
ParticleTypes.MYCELIUM) drifting down from roosting spots when guano drops on non-crop or fully grown blocks, ensuring players can visually observe guano falling regardless of underlying block state.
- Enhanced diegetic visual feedback during guano fertilization. When a roosting bat fertilizes a crop below, it now triggers both vanilla bone meal particles/sound (
- Forward Compatibility & Version Identity:
- Configured
fabric.mod.jsonwith"minecraft": ">=26.1.2-"for open-ended forward compatibility across minor/patch releases. - Integrated zero-dependency
ModVersionGuard.checkClass("Better Bats", "net.minecraft.world.entity.EntityType")inonInitialize()to display human-readable guidance in the event of an API mismatch.
- Configured
Projects on Modrinth are automatically available through a Maven repository for use with JVM build tools such as Gradle. To learn more about the Modrinth Maven API, click here.
Note: When available, you should use the creator's maven repo instead as it will have transitive dependency information that the Modrinth Maven API does not. You may also end up with duplicate dependencies if you use a mix of Modrinth and non-Modrinth Maven repositories for your dependencies, because the group identifier will be different when served through the Modrinth Maven API.
