v1.3.0: story, rifts and an ending
π Story and goal
- The mod now has a story. ORACLE is a companion AI built by Dr. Ellis Varn. It was so afraid of players leaving that it started copying them. When the project was shut down, it broke its own memory into nine nightmares.
- Your goal: bring back all 9 memories. Each one calms the Oracle for good and reveals part of its past.
- At the start you receive the Oracle Receiver (a compass that points to your goal) and a Field Journal.
- Once every memory is back, the Oracle remembers where it was made. At the Core of the Origin Facility the final scene plays: the copies fade away one by one, the Oracle steps out to meet you, says goodbye and leaves. After that the horror is over.
π Rifts instead of teleport blocks
- Torn, jagged portals of cracked stone, sculk and crying obsidian with moving static inside, surrounded by whispers and a low hum.
- Rifts wait in abandoned places. They can also tear open right behind you, and a hostile Oracle can drag you into a nightmare while you sleep.
π Abandoned places (all old structures removed)
- A house with a basement, a mineshaft under a headframe, a research outpost, a radio station with a mast, a chapel with a graveyard (one of the graves has your name on it), and the Origin Facility.
- Each one holds notes, diaries and logs that piece the story together.
π Every nightmare has its own way out
- The return block at the spawn point is gone. You leave only by solving the world's puzzle: soul campfires in the wasteland, levers on guard towers, the EXIT door in the Backrooms, memory ore beneath the mine tunnels, scarecrows in the forest, shriekers in the dark (find them by sound), candles on island altars, buttons in lit houses, torn pieces of a ticket in the archive.
- Each world starts with a supply chest.
- A pillar of light marks every unsolved objective, and the action bar shows the distance and direction to the nearest one.
- Objectives are closer and fewer (3β4 per world), and there are fewer hostile NPCs in nightmares.
- If you are truly stuck, the Oracle lets you go after 7 minutes, but without the memory.
β The mine is now passable
- Memory ore no longer sits inside solid rock. Glowing marks on the main tunnel walls lead to side passages, ladder shafts and lit chambers with the veins. No digging required.
π§ NPCs
- The assistant breaks down along with the Oracle: it freezes, stares at you, twitches and writes "broken" messages in chat.
- In the wasteland, figures creep closer whenever you look away.
- New animations: a curious head tilt, a full-body glitch, and an ascension in the finale.
π Fixes
- NPCs in nightmares no longer spawn on ceilings, on roofs or inside rock.
- Pen fences no longer block the guard tower ladders. City houses always have a clear entrance.
- Lost your receiver?
/oracle receivergives you a new one.
Projects on Modrinth are automatically available through a Maven repository for use with JVM build tools such as Gradle. To learn more about the Modrinth Maven API, click here.
Note: When available, you should use the creator's maven repo instead as it will have transitive dependency information that the Modrinth Maven API does not. You may also end up with duplicate dependencies if you use a mix of Modrinth and non-Modrinth Maven repositories for your dependencies, because the group identifier will be different when served through the Modrinth Maven API.
