Pet Perks

Your tamed pets finally pull their weight. Keep a pet within 16 blocks and it gives you a small, themed buff, plus a special ability that kicks in when it matters.

works in singleplayer and on servers.

Wolf

  • Strength I while your wolf is nearby
  • Strength II if your wolf is wearing wolf armor
  • ⚔ Pack Bond: every kill your wolf makes gives you +10% attack damage, stacking up to 3 times (+30%). Each kill resets the 15 second timer.

Cat

  • Night Vision while your cat is nearby
  • Nine Lives: drop to 2 hearts or less and your cat saves you with 3 seconds of immunity and a burst of Regeneration.

Parrot

  • +1 Feather Falling on top of whatever your boots already have (works with no boots too).

  • Tailwind: fall off a ledge and your parrot helps you glide for 3 seconds. 60 second cooldown.

  • Perks only come from your own tamed pets, not other players'.

Commands

  • /function pet_perks:info shows every perk in chat
  • /function pet_perks:uninstall cleans everything up before you remove the pack

Installation

  1. Download the zip (don't unzip it).
  2. Put it in .minecraft/saves/<your world>/datapacks/.
  3. Run /reload in game, or rejoin the world.

On a server, put it in world/datapacks/ and run /reload.

Compatibility

Java Edition 1.21.5 and newer.
