Changes

MMFP 2.8.0 is a major update for MMFP on Minecraft 26.2.

This update introduces significant changes to MMFP, focusing on improving stability, maintaining consistent frame pacing, reducing potential compatibility issues, and providing a better balance between performance and visual quality.

Several mods have been removed to simplify the modpack, while two lightweight quality-of-life mods have been added to improve everyday gameplay.

Changes compared to MMFP 2.7.1:

Removed mods:

  • Alternate Current, Clumps, Concurrent Chunk Management Engine (C2ME), Remove Reloading Screen

Updated mod loader:

  • Fabric Loader: 0.19.5 ā†’ 0.20.1

Updated mods:

  • BBE, Xaero's World Map

Updated resource packs:

  • Translations for Sodium

Adjusted default graphics settings:

Quality:

  • Weather Effect Radius: 5 ā†’ 10
  • Particles: Minimal ā†’ Decreased
  • Smooth Lighting: Off ā†’ On
  • Biome Blend: None ā†’ 3x3
  • Entity Distance: 50% ā†’ 75%
  • Entity Shadows: Off ā†’ On
  • Mipmap Levels: 0x ā†’ 2x

Why these mods were removed:

  • C2ME: Removed after testing showed more consistent gameplay performance without it on the primary Android test device. While C2ME can improve chunk generation and loading performance, its additional parallelism did not provide the desired balance of smoothness and stability for MMFP.

  • Remove Reloading Screen: Removed to simplify resource pack reloading and restore Minecraft's default loading screen behavior. This feature is not essential to MMFP's core experience.

  • Alternate Current: Removed to preserve vanilla redstone dust update behavior and reduce the possibility of compatibility issues with update-order-sensitive redstone mechanisms. This comes at the cost of its specialized redstone optimizations.

  • Clumps: Removed because Minecraft has already included its own experience orb merging optimization since version 1.17, reducing the need for additional XP-related optimizations.

MMFP 2.8.0 focuses on simplifying the modpack, improving stability, and providing a better balance between performance, visual quality, and everyday gameplay features on smartphones.
