Welcome to the first public beta release of Psychosis. This modpack completely reimagines Minecraft, transforming it into a psychological horror experience focused on paranoia simulation, dynamic environments, and deep atmospheric immersion.

Core Features

Sanity System

A dynamic mental state mechanic has been introduced. Prolonged exposure to darkness, exploring hazardous areas, and witnessing paranormal events deplete your sanity, leading to:

• Visual and auditory hallucinations (false footsteps, ambient noises).
• Shadowy silhouettes appearing on the edge of your vision that vanish when looked at directly.
• Distortions in environmental perception.

Sensory AI

Creatures in the world of Psychosis feature advanced detection triggers:

• Acoustic Tracking: Entities react to running, mining, building, and player breathing.
• Blood Tracing: Taking damage leaves blood trails that certain entities can use to track your position.
• Aggression: Shelters no longer guarantee safety; specific entities can breach or bypass doors and walls.

Exploration & Lore

• Integrated custom abandoned structures featuring environmental storytelling and hidden notes.
• Overhauled forest and cave biomes, transforming them into high-risk zones with unique scripted events.

Decoration & Interactive Devices

• Added hundreds of furniture pieces and building blocks for highly detailed base customization.
• Implemented fully functional TVs, projectors, and wall displays with an integrated in-game web browser.

Performance & Graphics

Deep manual optimization has been performed on memory allocation and the rendering pipeline.

• Performance: Achieved high frame-rate stability (1700–2200 FPS without shaders / 180–220 FPS with shaders on test systems like Ryzen 5 7500F / RX 7800 XT).
• Graphical Presets: Built-in support for specialized atmosphere profiles:
  • CTR VCR – For low-end systems (retro VHS tape effect).
  • Spooklementary – For high-end systems (maximum horror immersion).

Important Technical Information

1. Configuration: Configure keybinds before playing to resolve any conflicting mod controls.
2. Dependencies: The included resource packs are mandatory. Do not disable them, as doing so will break the custom audio engine and assets.
3. Modifications: Do not manually update mods or add third-party plugins. This pack uses a heavily customized setup with complex dependencies; modifications may cause instability or crashes.
