Changes
Fixes
- Config updates keep accented letters. On some Windows servers, 3.8.0 could replace accented letters in
config.ymlwith "" when it added new options. This happened only if the file was not saved as UTF-8. ActionHealth now adds new options to the end of the file and never writes the rest again. If 3.8.0 changed letters in your config, correct them once by hand. - Action messages no longer repeat. Each hit added a new combat tag, even for the same target. Each tag then sent the action message again. Now each target has one tag.
DAMAGE: ANYworks. With the action system on, a hit now gives one message, not two. The first hit of a fight also gets the ANY message now.- The toggle message shows only when it matters. A player who turned ActionHealth off got the
Toggle Messageevery second. Now it shows only while they look at an entity.
Changes
- Action messages follow the same rules as health messages: disabled worlds and regions,
Use Permissions,Show MobandShow Player, and the toggle. - Damage causes such as
LAVAin the action system now work for all damage, not only hits by an entity. - With
Region PvP: false, a cancelled hit shows the health without subtracting the damage, because the hit did no damage. - The server log names the way ActionHealth sends action bars, for example
Sending action bars with the Spigot API.
Under the hood
- ActionHealth reads WorldGuard 6 and 7 regions itself, without the WorldGuardWrapper library. The jar is now about 94 KB instead of 922 KB.
- New fallback for Paper's newer chat API (Adventure), in case Paper removes the BungeeCord chat API that ActionHealth uses now.
- Folia: an arrow that hits far from the shooter is handled on the shooter's thread.
- The build is reproducible: the jar below has the same SHA-256 as the jar that CI tested.
Tests
- 27 Spigot versions from 1.8 to 26.3, Paper 1.8.8, 1.20.6, 1.21.11 and 26.3, Folia 1.21.11 and 26.2: pass.
- Paper 1.16.5 and 1.21.11 with the Adventure method: pass.
- WorldGuard 6.1, 6.2.2, 7.0.15 and 7.0.19, PlaceholderAPI 2.12.3, ModelEngine R3.1.11: pass.
- Linkage check against 68 spigot-api versions: pass.
- 46 unit tests, 13 of them new: pass.

Projects on Modrinth are automatically available through a Maven repository for use with JVM build tools such as Gradle. To learn more about the Modrinth Maven API, click here.
Note: When available, you should use the creator's maven repo instead as it will have transitive dependency information that the Modrinth Maven API does not. You may also end up with duplicate dependencies if you use a mix of Modrinth and non-Modrinth Maven repositories for your dependencies, because the group identifier will be different when served through the Modrinth Maven API.
