Changes
[3.0.0] - 2026-09-05
⚠️ Two breaking changes read before updating:
- Requires Paper. This build needs Paper 26.2 and won't load on Spigot. Don't update until your server is on Paper.
- Old AOTVs stop working. The sword is now identified by a data tag instead of its name. Swords given before this update are just named diamond shovels reissue them with
/giveaspectofthevoid.
For admins
- Fully configurable via
config.yml: teleport distance/range, both sounds (including etherwarp's pitch range), the Speed effect it grants, whether fall damage is cancelled, and item appearance/damage. /aspectofthevoidreloadreload the config with no restart. Newaspectofthevoid.reloadpermission (ops by default)./giveaspectofthevoid [player]now targets other players, has tab completion, works from console with a target given, and reports unknown player names instead of failing silently. Console also gets a proper error if run with no target at all.giveaspectofthevoid.givepermission is now actually enforced. It was defined but never checked before. Still defaults to everyone setdefault: falseinpaper-plugin.ymlif you don't want players giving it to themselves.- Bad config values are logged and replaced with safe defaults a typo can't crash the server.
For players
- Teleports are safe now. Both blink and etherwarp use a rewritten safety check that reads your full hitbox and finds the nearest safe landing spot no more clipping into walls, ceilings, suffocating under overhangs, or landing in water/lava/the void. If nowhere is safe, it tells you instead of teleporting you anyway.
- Melee damage actually works hitting something with the sword now deals its configured damage (315 by default) instead of the number on the lore being purely decorative.
- Etherwarp has its own distinct sound now, instead of sounding identical to a regular blink.
- No more momentum carryover your velocity is zeroed before teleporting, so you don't go flying afterward.
- Right-clicking a chest while holding the sword no longer opens the chest and teleports you at once.
- The sword only works in your main hand. Using it off-hand shows a (rate-limited) notice instead.
- If your inventory is full when receiving a sword, it now drops at your feet instead of vanishing.
Under the hood
- Teleport safety scan rewritten: checks the full hitbox instead of one block, finds the nearest safe spot instead of stepping backward, and only reads blocks you'd actually overlap faster and more accurate than before.
- Per-player state (off-hand notices) is now cleared on quit/disable/reload instead of leaking forever.
- Commands rebuilt on Paper's Brigadier API; messages moved to Adventure components; tooltips use item data components resolved from the registry.
- Item identification, sounds, and effects now read from the shared config object instead of hardcoded constants.
- Lore updated to match Hypixel SkyBlock's current official text.
- README rewritten for Paper with setup, permissions, and full config reference.

Projects on Modrinth are automatically available through a Maven repository for use with JVM build tools such as Gradle. To learn more about the Modrinth Maven API, click here.
Note: When available, you should use the creator's maven repo instead as it will have transitive dependency information that the Modrinth Maven API does not. You may also end up with duplicate dependencies if you use a mix of Modrinth and non-Modrinth Maven repositories for your dependencies, because the group identifier will be different when served through the Modrinth Maven API.
