Changes
BetterMob 1.1.6
Highlights
- Message language setting. Console and command messages now come from
lang/<code>.yml. English (en) and German (de) are included, add your own by copyinglang/en.yml. Pick one withLanguage:inconfig.yml.
The default is now English, setLanguage: deto keep the German messages. - Reloading updates living mobs.
/bettermob reloadnow binds mobs that are already alive to their new definition: stats and options are re-applied, timers are restarted without duplicates, the model is re-attached and
~onLoadskills run again. - Boss bar module.
Modules: BossBar:shows a health bar to nearby players, withTitle,Range,Color,Style,CreateFog,DarkenSkyandPlayMusic. The title supports<mob.name>,<mob.hp>,<mob.maxhp>,
<mob.id>and PlaceholderAPI. - Finer permissions. Every subcommand has its own node:
bettermob.spawn,.list,.reload,.skill,.give,.killalland.debug.bettermob.adminstill grants all of them. The help and tab completion only show
what you may use. - PlaceholderAPI support. Placeholders in mob names and in the
messageandcommandmechanics, plus%bettermob_...%placeholders for mob and skill counts.
New commands
/bettermob killall [mob|*] [world]removes all living BetterMob mobs, or just one type and/or one world, and tells you how many. It also cleans up leftover helper armor stands oftotemskills./bettermob stats [on|off|reset]shows living mobs per type, running timers and loaded skills and packs. With profiling on (Stats: onor/bettermob stats on) it also lists the slowest skills (calls, average, maximum)
and logs a warning when a run takes longer thanStatsWarnMillis. Nothing is measured while it is off.
For developers
- New example plugin in
examples/api-example(custom mechanic, spawn and death events, spawning a mob through the API). It builds against the published version via JitPack and is compiled in CI. BetterMobAPI.reload()now does exactly what/bettermob reloaddoes.- The skill engine was split into one class per mechanic, targeter and condition. The public API did not change, custom mechanics work as before.
- JUnit tests for the parsers, language files, permissions, mechanic names, boss bar titles and statistics run in the CI.
Fixes
- Mobs that load after a restart or chunk reload get their AI goals and sunburn protection applied again.
- Placeholder names are matched independent of the server's locale.
- Totem hit bodies are tagged (
bettermob_helper), and leftovers are removed on startup and when chunks load.
Updating from 1.1.5
- Permissions:
/bettermobno longer requiresbettermob.adminitself. If you gave players single nodes before, check them against the new list. Ops andbettermob.adminkeep full access. - Config: new keys
Language,StatsandStatsWarnMillis. Existing config files keep working, missing keys use their defaults. - Messages: if you parse console output, note that it is English now unless you set
Language: de. - Requirements are unchanged: Paper 1.21+ (Folia supported), Java 21.

Optional dependencies
Unavailable version
Projects on Modrinth are automatically available through a Maven repository for use with JVM build tools such as Gradle. To learn more about the Modrinth Maven API, click here.
Note: When available, you should use the creator's maven repo instead as it will have transitive dependency information that the Modrinth Maven API does not. You may also end up with duplicate dependencies if you use a mix of Modrinth and non-Modrinth Maven repositories for your dependencies, because the group identifier will be different when served through the Modrinth Maven API.
