Changes
New
- Counter measures its own ping - it no longer trusts the number the client reports. Faking lag used to buy extra reach and cancel out knockback checks. It doesn't any more.
- Lag switch detection - catches players who freeze their connection to dodge hits, and players whose game keeps replying while their movement goes silent.
- Ping spoof detection - spots a player claiming a much worse connection than they really have.
- Tick speed check - a second, stricter way of catching timer cheats, measured against Counter's own clock so normal lag doesn't set it off.
- Mouse movement check - a real mouse can only turn in whole steps decided by your sensitivity slider. Aim that ignores those steps did not come from a mouse.
- Known bypass patterns - three packet tricks used by current cheat clients that no normal game ever sends.
- Hover and click alerts - hover an alert to see ping, client, version, location, and everything else that player has tripped recently. Click it to inspect them.
- Alert sounds - optional ping so staff notice flags without watching chat.
Catches more
- Reach - hits are now checked against where the target actually was a moment ago, not a guess based on speed.
- Backtrack - catches players hitting where you used to be, rather than where you are.
- Knockback - Counter now knows the exact moment your game received a hit, instead of estimating it.
- Checks can back each other up - turn it on and several different checks have to agree before anyone is punished, so one noisy check can never ban on its own. It also works the other way: a player tripping lots of different checks at once can be stopped sooner.
Fixed
- Flight and speed were skippable - a player could simply claim to be standing on solid ground and the movement checks believed them. They don't any more.
- Elytra rockets turned Counter off - firing rockets non stop kept every single check disabled. This was the big one for elytra fights.
- Elytra false flags - gliding low over water or ground no longer counts as hovering.
- Builders were getting flagged - placing a block you were looking straight at, and building a ceiling above you, were both being treated as scaffold cheating.
- Circle strafing - fighting while running rings around someone no longer builds up movement flags.
- Custom reach servers - if your server hands out extra reach, Counter now reads it instead of flagging everyone who uses it.
- Staff could not use commands - giving someone counter.admin did not actually let them run /counter unless they were an operator.
- Self test could punish you - turning on Self Test with a high ping could get you kicked by your own anticheat.
- /counter help - players got a one line summary instead of the real help menu.
- Client whitelist - the allowed client list in the config was never being read.
- Four checks that could never fire - step, no fall, backtrack and boat detection were all silently dead.
- Menus - only admins can toggle checks now, and the checks list has a category filter so you are not paging through 95 of them
Projects on Modrinth are automatically available through a Maven repository for use with JVM build tools such as Gradle. To learn more about the Modrinth Maven API, click here.
Note: When available, you should use the creator's maven repo instead as it will have transitive dependency information that the Modrinth Maven API does not. You may also end up with duplicate dependencies if you use a mix of Modrinth and non-Modrinth Maven repositories for your dependencies, because the group identifier will be different when served through the Modrinth Maven API.
