DiscoverPets
DiscoverPets is a lightweight, interactive, and highly customizable pet system designed for modern Minecraft servers. Instead of simply buying or receiving pets, players must earn them through a built-in combat discovery system.
Built entirely on the Spigot API without any NMS (net.minecraft.server) dependencies, it guarantees stability and seamless compatibility across updates.
Core Features
Unlock via Discovery Players must hunt and defeat a configurable number of a specific mob to "discover" and unlock it as a companion. Every kill requirement is strictly tracked and can be fully modified in the configuration file.
Interactive Mounting & Carrying Pets are fully physical entities. Players can mount their pets to ride them or pick them up to carry them on their heads. The plugin features custom movement mechanics: aquatic pets allow for full 3D swimming, while ground pets adapt their speeds based on their environment.
Native Combat AI Certain pets, such as Iron Golems and Withers, retain their native vanilla combat AI. They act as active guardians, aggressively defending the owner against hostile threats without causing server lag or TPS drops.
Strictly Exploit-Proof The plugin is meticulously engineered to prevent all known vanilla edge-case exploits:
- Pets are invincible and cannot take damage from any source.
- Complete immunity to leads (lassos), fishing rods, and splash potions.
- Zero item duping (pets drop nothing upon despawning).
- Wild mobs will ignore pets, preventing players from using them as invincible decoys.
- Strict ownership checks prevent unauthorized players from interacting with, mounting, or opening pet inventories.

Projects on Modrinth are automatically available through a Maven repository for use with JVM build tools such as Gradle. To learn more about the Modrinth Maven API, click here.
Note: When available, you should use the creator's maven repo instead as it will have transitive dependency information that the Modrinth Maven API does not. You may also end up with duplicate dependencies if you use a mix of Modrinth and non-Modrinth Maven repositories for your dependencies, because the group identifier will be different when served through the Modrinth Maven API.
