Definitive DynamicLight v1.0 – Initial Release
It’s finally here! The official launch of the first stable version of the plugin. Built specifically to solve the performance and lag issues that older dynamic lighting alternatives usually struggle with.
What’s included in this version?
- Real optimization: Internal
BlockDatacaching system to prevent the server from being overloaded with repetitive operations. - Native Folia support: Logic adapted to run safely in multi-threaded environments using regional schedulers.
- Preset system: Three preconfigured profiles (Fancy, Balanced, Performance) that adjust tick timings based on the number of active players.
- Local Mode (PLAYER): Option for each player to process only their own light internally if maximum performance is your goal.
- Water physics: Torches extinguish when submerged (lanterns stay lit), and overall light levels dim dynamically underwater.
- Dropped items: Light-emitting items on the ground also illuminate their surroundings.
The default configuration is balanced for any server, but you can add or modify the light level of any item in the config.yml.
If you spot any issues or have suggestions for v1.1, feel free to share them in the issues section.
Projects on Modrinth are automatically available through a Maven repository for use with JVM build tools such as Gradle. To learn more about the Modrinth Maven API, click here.
Note: When available, you should use the creator's maven repo instead as it will have transitive dependency information that the Modrinth Maven API does not. You may also end up with duplicate dependencies if you use a mix of Modrinth and non-Modrinth Maven repositories for your dependencies, because the group identifier will be different when served through the Modrinth Maven API.
