Changes
v1.1.4 - Minecraft 26.3 Support
What's New in v1.1.4
Improvements
- Minecraft 26.3 is now a supported and verified target. No plugin changes were required: packetevents' waypoint packet handling is unchanged from 2.10.1 through 2.14.0 (the release that added 26.3), so the existing locator-bar hiding and recoloring works on 26.3 as-is.
- Firefly is now published to Modrinth with
26.3in its game-version list.
Security
- The bundled H2 database driver is updated to 2.5.252 (from 2.4.240). This fixes a
URL-injection issue, adds a deserialization filter, and fixes
SecureFileStoreskipping decryption. Existingfirefly.mv.dbfiles open unchanged, and were verified to work both when upgrading and when downgrading back to 1.1.3.
Technical Changes
- Firefly now compiles against the minimum supported packetevents, 2.10.1, so any use of newer packetevents API fails the build instead of breaking servers on older packetevents. The compiled plugin is byte-for-byte identical.
- The full test suite (58 tests, plus the JaCoCo coverage gate) now also runs against the 26.3 Paper API. The 1.21.6 floor build is unchanged.
Breaking Changes
- None in this release.
Requirements
Firefly needs the packetevents plugin installed. The minimum version depends on your server:
| Server | packetevents |
|---|---|
| 1.21.6 - 1.21.11 | 2.10.1+ (first release with the full locator-bar waypoint API) |
| 26.1 - 26.2 | 2.13.0+ (first release that knows the 26.2 protocol) |
| 26.3 | 2.14.0+ (first release that knows the 26.3 protocol) |
Running a packetevents version older than the minimum for your server will fail at runtime.
Installation
Download Firefly-1.1.4.jar and place it in your server's plugins folder.
Upgrading from a Previous Version
- Stop your server
- Replace the old JAR with the new one
- If you are moving to Minecraft 26.3, update packetevents to 2.14.0 or newer
- Start your server
- Player data and configuration are preserved across upgrades
Compatibility
- Minecraft: 1.21.6+ (locator bar) through 26.3
- Server Software: Spigot, Paper, Purpur, or Folia (Folia fully supported)
- Dependencies: packetevents (see Requirements above)
- Java Version: 21+ (tested on Java 21 and 25; Minecraft 26.x itself requires Java 25)
Known Issues
- None at this time.

Projects on Modrinth are automatically available through a Maven repository for use with JVM build tools such as Gradle. To learn more about the Modrinth Maven API, click here.
Note: When available, you should use the creator's maven repo instead as it will have transitive dependency information that the Modrinth Maven API does not. You may also end up with duplicate dependencies if you use a mix of Modrinth and non-Modrinth Maven repositories for your dependencies, because the group identifier will be different when served through the Modrinth Maven API.
