ServerSideBuilds Plugin
ServerSideBuilds is a clientless, zero-dependency Minecraft construction zone simulator that projects holographic block blueprints directly to any standard player client. It streamlines survival building with real-time placement verification, etc...

ServerSideBuilds v2.1.0 Changelog
Welcome to the ultimate release of ServerSideBuilds! This update introduces a brand-new Interactive Build Mode, native client-side glowing block projections, advanced transformations, and extensive security and stability improvements.
New Features
Interactive Build Mode (/ssb buildmode / /ssb bm)
- No more typing tedious commands! Entering Build Mode saves your survival inventory and replaces your hotbar with custom interactive tools:
- Rotate 90ยฐ (Right-click to rotate the blueprint horizontally)
- Mirror X (Right-click to mirror horizontally | Left-click to mirror vertically)
- Mirror Z (Right-click to mirror Z | Left-click to reset transformations)
- Nudge (Right-click to shift in your facing direction | Left-click to nudge up)
- Layer Up (Right-click to view the next blueprint layer up)
- Layer Down (Right-click to view the next layer down | Left-click to show all)
- Paste All (Instantly paste the entire blueprint; Creative/OP only)
- Fill (Automatically place matching blocks from your saved survival inventory)
- Exit Build Mode (Safely restores your saved survival inventory)
Holographic Glowing Blocks (BlockDisplay System)
- Replaced packet-based block changes with Minecraft's native BlockDisplay entities.
- Holograms now feature a client-side glowing outline showing exactly where blocks need to be placed.
- Hologram blocks have no collision, allowing players to walk straight through them to build.
- Spawning is limited to a 20-block radius around the player to maximize performance.
Advanced Mirrors & Rotations
- Mirror Y (Vertical Mirror): Mirroring vertically now swaps properties for vertical slabs, stairs, trapdoors, pointed dripstones, button/lever placement faces, and lanterns.
- Connection Rotations: Fences, walls, glass panes, and redstone wire properties now update and link accurately when rotated or mirrored.
Raytrace-First Auto-Material Switcher
- Automatically equips the correct block type from your inventory when right-clicking an unplaced hologram block with an empty hand.
- Uses a 5-block line-of-sight raycast first, detecting hologram blocks even when pointing at solid blocks behind or underneath them.
Materials Checklist Command (/ssb materials)
- View a sorted list of the remaining blocks needed to complete the active projection directly in your chat.
Security, Exploits & Bug Fixes
Inventory Safeguards
- Clear & Re-Project Fix: Fixed a bug where re-projecting or running /ssb clear while in Build Mode deleted the player's saved inventory. The plugin now automatically restores inventories first.
- Reload & Shutdown Restores: Added a shutdown sequence that restores all online player inventories before the plugin unloads.
- Death & Respawn Fixes:
- If keepInventory is false, your real saved inventory drops on the ground, and build tools are discarded.
- If keepInventory is true, build tools are automatically replaced by your saved inventory so you respawn with your real items.
Container & Drag Exploits Prevention
- Blocked keyboard hotbar key swaps (1-9) involving build mode items to prevent players from transferring tools into chests.
- Blocked dragging or distributing build mode items inside chest, dispenser, or hopper interfaces.
Performance & Leak Optimizations
- No Stranded Entities: Set BlockDisplay entities to non-persistent so they are never saved to world data, avoiding permanent orphaned ghost blocks on crashes.
- Memory Safety checks: Pre-validate schematic volume to prevent OutOfMemoryError before allocating memory.
- Asynchronous Disk I/O: Dispatched save and import commands to async threads to eliminate server tick lag.
- Selections Memory Leak: Cleared stored corner coordinates on player logout.
Projects on Modrinth are automatically available through a Maven repository for use with JVM build tools such as Gradle. To learn more about the Modrinth Maven API, click here.
Note: When available, you should use the creator's maven repo instead as it will have transitive dependency information that the Modrinth Maven API does not. You may also end up with duplicate dependencies if you use a mix of Modrinth and non-Modrinth Maven repositories for your dependencies, because the group identifier will be different when served through the Modrinth Maven API.
