Changes
Paper accuracy and admin controls
- Fixed barriers incorrectly stopping hidden beacon effects, whether placed below or above tinted glass.
- Beacon columns are now checked above tinted glass: real vanilla beam blockers disable the effects, while barriers and other beam-compatible blocks continue to pass.
- Added support for multiple tinted-glass blocks in the same beacon column.
- Improved handling of block placement and removal, pistons, explosions, chunks, and world lifecycle events.
- Improved preservation of primary effects, primary level II, regeneration, secondary effects, beacon tiers, and custom Paper effect ranges.
- Effects already applied by the plugin now expire naturally after disabling the feature or blocking the beacon.
Configuration and commands
- Added
plugins/SimpleNoBeamBeacon/config.ymlwithenabled: trueby default. - Added
/simplenobeambeacon reload. - Added
/simplenobeambeacon set enabled. - Added
/simplenobeambeacon set disabled. - Added
/simplenobeambeacon enableand/simplenobeambeacon disableas shortcuts. - Added
/snbbas an alias for all administrative commands. - All commands and tab completion are restricted to server operators and the server console.
- Invalid configuration files are rejected during reload without changing the current running state.
- Disabling the feature keeps the plugin and its administrative command loaded.
Compatibility
- Paper 26.2 is the primary tested target.
- The same Java 16 JAR retains additional compatibility with Paper, Spigot, Purpur, CraftBukkit, and compatible Bukkit-based servers from Minecraft 1.17.1 onward.
- Version-specific server access is detected dynamically, with a safe Bukkit API fallback for unrecognised server versions.
- The artifact is now named
SimpleNoBeamBeacon-Paper-1.1.0.jar.
Breaking changes
- The experimental Sponge implementation has been removed. There is no Sponge build for version 1.1.0; Sponge users should remain on version 1.0.0.
- Folia is no longer declared as officially supported because complete beacon scans cannot always remain within a single region.
- Remove
SimpleNoBeamBeacon-Bukkit-1.0.0.jarbefore installing the new JAR.
Visual limitation
Tinted glass still hides the entire native beam on an unmodified client, including the section below the glass. Showing the native beam only below tinted glass would require a client mod.
This plugin handles beacon effects and obstruction rules entirely on the server without using an inaccurate particle or display-entity imitation.
No dependencies, client mods, or resource packs are required.
Projects on Modrinth are automatically available through a Maven repository for use with JVM build tools such as Gradle. To learn more about the Modrinth Maven API, click here.
Note: When available, you should use the creator's maven repo instead as it will have transitive dependency information that the Modrinth Maven API does not. You may also end up with duplicate dependencies if you use a mix of Modrinth and non-Modrinth Maven repositories for your dependencies, because the group identifier will be different when served through the Modrinth Maven API.
