š”ļø Two Ways a Vanished Player Was Still Leaking
Hiding a player on the server hides their entity and their tab-list entry. It does not hide their name anywhere the server builds a list straight from the player list - and there were two such places left.
- Server list ping. Hovering your server on the multiplayer screen showed the name sample, vanished staff included, to anyone - no login required. Vanished players are now stripped from that sample and subtracted from the online counter shown next to it.
- Tab completion.
/msg <tab>(and/tell,/w,/tp, plus plugin commands) happily suggested vanished players to everyone. Suggestions are now filtered on all three paths the server uses for them, vanilla Brigadier commands included.
Both filters respect the existing vanish level system: staff who are allowed to see a vanished player still get them in the sample and in tab completion, exactly as before.
/vium whois <tab> was leaking the same way and is filtered too.
š ļø Other
- Two new module toggles, both on by default:
modules.hide-from-server-list(withhide-from-countto control the counter separately) andmodules.hide-from-tab-complete. Existingconfig.ymlfiles keep working untouched and get the fix without editing. - Compatibility: Paper/Purpur 1.21.10 - 26.3.
Projects on Modrinth are automatically available through a Maven repository for use with JVM build tools such as Gradle. To learn more about the Modrinth Maven API, click here.
Note: When available, you should use the creator's maven repo instead as it will have transitive dependency information that the Modrinth Maven API does not. You may also end up with duplicate dependencies if you use a mix of Modrinth and non-Modrinth Maven repositories for your dependencies, because the group identifier will be different when served through the Modrinth Maven API.
