This is the first public alpha release of IronMile.
IronMile is a driving mod that aims to bring a more immersive driving experience to Minecraft through realistic vehicle handling. The core driving mechanics are now playable, but the mod is still in active development.
Requirements
- Minecraft 1.21.1
- Fabric Loader
- Fabric API
- LambDynamicLights (Optional)
Controls & Features
Controls
- W – Accelerate
- S – Brake / Reverse
- A / D – Steer left / right
- Shift – Exit vehicle
- H - Turns on the headlight
Driving Surfaces
Different surfaces provide different amounts of grip.
- Road (Stones and concrete) – Highest grip and best overall performance.
- Dirt – Reduced grip compared to roads.
- Sand – Low grip with slower acceleration.
- Grass – Moderate grip with slightly reduced handling.
- Snow – Low grip, especially when using unsuitable tires.
- Ice – Extremely low grip and the most difficult surface to drive on.
Tire Types
Each tire type performs differently depending on the surface and weather.
- Summer Tires – Best suited for dry roads and warm conditions.
- All-Season Tires – Balanced performance across most surfaces and weather conditions.
- Winter Tires – Designed for snow and icy conditions, providing improved grip in cold weather.
Tires can be changed by interacting with the vehicle while holding the desired tire item.
Vehicle Features
- Driving mechanics
- Speed-based acceleration, braking, and steering
- Vehicle collisions
- Brake lights
- Reverse lights
- Headlights
- Optional LambDynamicLights support
Other
- Speed (km/h) – Your current speed. The Yellow Hatchback has a top speed of 140 km/h. It reaches 100km/h in roughly 9 seconds. The rate of which the speed accelerates is slower in higher speeds.
- Gear – The gear the transmission is currently using. Gear shifts causes the km/h to flatten for a bit before accelerating again.
- RPM – The current engine speed.
- Grip – The amount of traction available between the tires and the current surface. Higher grip provides better acceleration, braking, and cornering.
- Condition – The current weather condition affecting road grip. When under a roof, the car will be dry.
- HUD - displays the car's status.
Known issues
- Multiplayer has not been tested yet.
- Vehicle handling and balancing are still being adjusted.
- The driving camera is still being improved.
- More vehicles and features are planned for future updates.
- The player model is visible above and below the cars model.
