Long ago, there was a time where prosperous civilizations ruled the Overworld, whose ruins we can excavate today as archeological sites. A common companion of these citizens was the SP1D3R, the Supply Protector-v.1 Defender-v.3 Robot.
Powered by a redstone core, SP1D3Rs hovered above the ground and followed their owners, ready to execute a variety of tasks at a moment’s notice. Having a SP1D3R around made everyday life much easier, as they were designed to transport objects in their redstone cores and could traverse difficult terrain with ease. Additionally, the SP1D3R had the capability to defend their owners and themselves from various threats. Smaller units were even implemented in mining shafts to access hard to reach ores! Many believe that the assistance of the SP1D3R greatly helped these lost civilizations flourish.
That was, until… something… happened, and the SP1D3Rs turned against their creators.
Historians and archaeologists alike are unsure of what exactly caused the SP1D3R to change from friendly companions to the dangerous monsters that still remain to this day. Some speculations include sudden sentience, redstone corruption, or a magic ritual gone wrong, but what is true is that the SP1D3R is a terrifying remnant of an age long past.
Adventurers must be prepared to defeat these monsters, especially those still roaming the mineshafts below the surface - their advanced oxidation resulted in a deadly poison administered when they attack. Those who manage to kill a SP1D3R can be rewarded with string (a material that was used to craft the robot) or SP1D3R eyes, which when artificially oxidized are a valuable resource for alchemy and potion brewing.
