Dream Inception — dream your world, build in your sleep
Sneak + right-click any bed and fall asleep into a dream copy of your world — same seed, same mountains, same caves, but none of your builds. You wake up inside the dream in Creative, free to fly and build anything. When you're done, use the Totem of Unsleep and wake up exactly where you fell asleep.
What it does
- Vanilla-feeling transition — you lie down, the familiar sleep fade darkens the
screen (~5 s), and the dream begins. Day or night. Getting up ("Leave Bed", sneak, or
/wake) cancels it, exactly like a normal bed. Arrival in the dream fades in like eyes opening. - Your body stays behind — while you dream, a sleeping likeness of you (your skin, proper sleeping pose) lies on the bed, visible to everyone and shown on the locator bar. One dreamer per bed; an occupied bed refuses you.
- No seed-peeking — the dream landscape matches your world, but no ores and no structures generate there. Flying around the dream in Creative reveals nothing worth knowing about the real world.
- No dreams within dreams — beds inside a dream explode and ender chests are sealed, portals lead nowhere.
Commands & permissions
/wake |
wake yourself (fallback if the totem is lost) — inception.wake, default on |
/wake <player> |
wake someone else — inception.wake.others, default op |
| sneak + right-click bed | enter a dream — inception.dream, default on |
Setup
Drop the jar into plugins/ on Paper 26.2 (Purpur works; plain Spigot/Bukkit will
not). No config needed. Dream worlds are created on first use as dream_<worldname>,
sharing the real world's seed. Optional: install WorldEdit to build with it inside
dreams.
Good to know
- The dream world is shared: dreamers can see and edit each other's dream builds.
- Worlds with custom chunk generators (Terra, …) get vanilla terrain with the same seed.
- Dream worlds stay loaded once created (no auto-unload yet).
- Cave layouts still mirror the real seed (the landscape is the point) — only ores and structures are hidden.
- Don't lose the Totem of Unsleep !
