The Cards Are Dealt

Feeling lucky?

The Cards Are Dealt (TCAD) gives Minecraft something to gamble with. Throw dice and chain combos, rig them when nobody's looking, and fire them from a slingshot. Bet your diamonds at a rock-paper-scissors card table, and try not to touch the frogs. Seriously. Don't touch the frogs.

Requires Fabric API and GeckoLib. Mod Menu is optional, for the config screen.

🎲 Dice

A Dice crafted from one Wool block, thrown, and its roll in chat

  • Craft a Dice from a single Wool block.
  • Right-click to throw it. Everyone within 16 blocks sees what you rolled.
  • Crouch + right-click a block to place a Dice down on a random side.
  • Right-click a Dice that has landed to roll it again.
  • Punch it, or crouch + click it, to pick it back up.

Dice actually tumble. They roll down hills, float on water, bounce off Slime Blocks and knock other Dice out of the way.

All 16 colors of Dice

Craft them from colored Wool, or dye them afterwards. All 16 colors are in!

Big Dice

Four Wool in a 2×2 grid makes a Big Dice. It's 4× the size, falls at half the gravity, and everyone within 32 blocks hears about your roll.

Bundle of Dice

Craft 2 to 9 Dice together into a Bundle and throw them all at once. All the numbers show up in one chat message. Psst... try a Bundle of nine red Dice.

Combos

Right-click a Dice while it's still in the air to send it flying again. Keep it up for a combo! Your highest combo is saved in your Statistics, so go set a record.

Weighted Dice

Want to cheat a little? Put a Dice in crafting grid slot 1 to 6 and any nugget in the bottom row. That Dice now always lands on its slot's number, and nobody has to know.

Dispensers

Dispensers can fire Dice, Big Dice and Bundles, and the result is announced to everyone within 64 blocks. You can even craft a Dispenser with a Die-Caster instead of a Bow.

🏹 The Die-Caster

The Die-Caster recipe, its wind-up frames, and the damage numbers

A slingshot that uses your Dice as ammo.

  • Hold right-click to wind it up, then let go to fire. A longer wind-up means a faster shot.
  • Damage is whatever you roll: every pip is half a heart. Roll a 6 for a CRIT!
  • Hold a Dice in your off-hand to pick which one gets fired.
  • Missed shots land and can be picked up again. Shields block them.
  • Hitting a Dice that's already in the air adds to its combo.
  • Enchant it with Power, Punch, Quick Charge, Unbreaking and Mending, plus two enchantments of its own:
    • Luck (up to III): gives your shots a chance to roll higher, and improves your fishing luck while it's in your inventory. The Enchanting Table goes up to Luck II; combine two in an Anvil for Luck III.
    • Ricochet (up to II): your Dice bounce off blocks extra times. Only found in End City chests.

Watch out: 1% of Skeletons spawn with a Die-Caster instead of a Bow. Get taken out by one and you'll get a special death message, like "Steve was gambled to death by Skeleton".

🐸 Dart Frogs

The Frozen, Magma and Poison Dart Frogs: where they live, what touching them does, and what they drop

Three tiny frogs. Look, don't touch.

  • Frozen Dart Frog: found in snowy biomes, and all over Ice Spikes. Touching it gives you Glaciated. It's really fast on ice. Drops Frozen Frog Spikes.
  • Magma Dart Frog: found in the Nether, around Fortresses, Bastions and big lava lakes. Touching it sets you on fire. It swims through lava, but water is deadly to it. Drops Magma Frog Legs, which fizzle away in water.
  • Poison Dart Frog: lives in Swamps and Mangrove Swamps. Touch it and you're Paralyzed; hit it and you're Poisoned too. Drops Poisonous Vials.

All frogs run from sprinting players. Feed one a Cookie and see what happens. And whatever you do, don't let a Magma frog and a Frozen frog meet...

Taming: splash a Poison Dart Frog with a Splash Potion of Milk, then feed it Silverfish Eggs (dropped by Silverfish). A tamed frog can follow you, stay put or roam around.

🧪 Potions

Brewing the Dart Frog potions from an Awkward Potion

Brew a frog drop into an Awkward Potion:

  • Glaciating (Frozen Frog Spike): everything feels like ice, the item in your hand freezes in place, and lava turns to Basalt under your feet. A full set of Leather Armor keeps you nice and cozy.
  • Magma Skin (Magma Frog Leg): swim through lava as if it were water. Keep an eye on your bubble meter, and stay out of water, because it drags you straight down.
  • Paralysis (Poisonous Vial): the target can't move at all.
  • Splash Potion of Milk (Milk Bucket into a Splash Awkward Potion): cures Paralysis.

Redstone extends them, and Glaciating and Magma Skin can go on Tipped Arrows.

Icicle Arrows

A Frozen Frog Spike, a Stick and a Feather make 2 Icicle Arrows. Every hit freezes the target a bit more. Land enough in a row and they start taking freeze damage.

🃏 Cards

The recipes for the playing cards and the Enchanted Cards

Surround an ingredient with 8 Paper to get 4 Cards. Blue Cards are a little colder: they're made with a Frozen Frog Spike. Red Dye makes Red Cards, and Yellow Dye makes Yellow Cards.

Enchanted Cards: surround a card with 8 of its frog drop: Blue with Frozen Frog Spikes, Red with Magma Frog Legs, Yellow with Poisonous Vials.

Card-ography Table

Surround a Cartography Table with 8 Paper. Two players each pick a card in secret, the countdown runs, and the cards are revealed:

Blue beats Red. Red beats Yellow. Yellow beats Blue.

  • Nobody to play with? Challenge The House.
  • Against another player, you can put a wager in your gamble slot. The winner takes both stakes!
  • Anyone else at the table can watch the game.
  • Redstone builders: a Comparator reads the winning card (1 for Blue, 4 for Red, 7 for Yellow).

The Deal-Breaker

The Deal-Breaker recipe and what each card does

A deck of cards that's also a weapon. Craft it by combining the three Enchanted Cards.

Hold right-click and the cards cycle. Let go to throw whichever card is showing:

  • Blue: freezes the target with Glaciated for 5 seconds
  • Red: pierces through every target and sets them on fire
  • Yellow: Paralyzes the target for 3 seconds

It has 60 durability and can be repaired in an Anvil with any of the frog drops.

🏆 Advancements and Statistics

12 new advancements to unlock, including Let's go Gambling!, Jackpot!, Snake Eyes, Money Shot, The House Always Wins, Dance Frog, Dance!, How To Train Your Frog, Frog-Toucher and Ice and Fire.

New statistics: Dice Rolled, Highest Combo, Crits Landed and Dice Ricocheted.

⚙️ Config and Commands

Use the config file, the Mod Menu screen, or these commands:

  • /dice announcements enable|disable: turns the dice roll chat messages on or off
  • /dice skeletons enable|disable: turns Die-Caster Skeletons on or off (operators only)
  • /dice cardtable spectators enable|disable: lets spectators see the chosen cards (operators only)

🤝 Works With

  • Souls: your roll announcements use your soul color, and the Die-Caster gets the Soul-bound enchantment.
