SimplyFlashback ⏪
Server-side replay recording
Minecraft 1.21.5-1.21.11. Paper and Folia also 26.1-26.2.
You record on the server. You watch the file in the Flashback client. People being recorded don't need the mod.
Getting started
- Drop
SimplyFlashback-*.jarinplugins/and restart. No ProtocolLib. /sf record startthen/sf record stopwhen you're done.- Or
/clip start, play for a bit,/clip savefor the last 30 seconds.
Saves go to plugins/SimplyFlashback/replays/<Player>/ and clips/<Player>/. Open the .flashback in Minecraft with Flashback installed.
Features
- Works on Spigot, Paper, and Folia. One jar.
- Full recordings, plus a rolling clip buffer (last N seconds, 30 by default). Saving a clip doesn't clear it.
- Auto-save clips on death, leave, world change, or a player kill. All optional in config.
- Players can
/autoclipthemselves so they clip on join and save on those events. - Grabs Simple Voice Chat audio if that plugin is on the server.
- Model Engine models don't snap back to spawn in the replay.
- First tick actually renders. The file includes registries, nearby chunks, and player state up front.
- Admin GUI, action bar (
/sf actionbar), a TPS breaker if the server is lagging, and caps on RAM/disk.
Folia note: snapshots only cover the recorded player's current region. Stuff in other regions isn't in the file.
Commands
Aliases: /sf and /replay. Clips also have /clip, /sfclip, /highlight. Autoclip: /sfac.
Leave the player name off in-game to target yourself.

Doing this to someone else also needs simplyflashback.record.others or simplyflashback.clip.others (default op). Death, world-change, and kill auto-saves need extra perms (simplyflashback.clip.death, .world-change, .kill), all default false so random players don't fill the disk. Leave saves have no extra perm unless you set one. simplyflashback.admin already includes command, others, reload, and audit.
Examples
Full session:
/sf record start Steve
/sf record stop Steve
Last 30 seconds:
/clip start Steve
/clip save Steve
Self-service:
/autoclip on
Then open the .flashback with the Flashback client.
Privacy
A recording includes whoever is nearby, unfiltered chat, terrain, and Simple Voice Chat audio if that plugin is installed. Lock down plugins/SimplyFlashback/ and tell people if you record them.
SimplyFlashback is not affiliated with the Flashback mod. It just writes files the Flashback client can play.
