Tools, Enchantments, Building Blocks, Lanterns and Ores
Handwerk (German for "craftsmanship") — formerly known as DayOfMind Additions.
Handwerk speeds up resource gathering, terraforming, and farming with area-of-effect tools, rounds out your building palette, and sets every overworld ore into the rock it grew in. Simple and vanilla-friendly. Built by OxFaTech as the heart of the Fernweh modpack (formerly known as DayOfMind), it works standalone in any modpack across all supported versions.
Supported Versions
Supported Loaders

🛠️ Tools
A family of tools that turns tedious jobs into a single click. Every tool comes in all six tiers (Wood → Netherite) and works with modded blocks too.
- Terraformer Shovel — Excavates earth-like blocks in an area, creates paths, and toggles between dirt and dirt path (sneak to reverse).
- Hammer — Mines stone-like blocks in an area and creates paths.
- Prospector Pickaxe — Vein-mines an entire ore deposit at once.
- Lumberjack Axe — Fells an entire tree and strips logs in an area.
- Harvester Scythe — Right-click to harvest and replant crops.

♻️ Reforging
Your tools grow with you instead of being re-crafted from scratch.
- Reforging Rune — A craftable smithing item that upgrades an Iron or Gold tool to Diamond, transferring its enchantments and wear.
- Netherite Upgrades — Promote a Diamond tool to Netherite using a vanilla smithing template, exactly like vanilla gear.

🌟 Enchantments
Available at the enchanting table and listed in the mod's dedicated creative tab.
- Wide Reach (I–II) — Widens the affected area of radius tools (and the Lodestar Charm's pull).
- Magnetism (I–II) — Sends the drops from blocks you mine or harvest straight to you (does not act as a general vacuum). Level II also pulls in experience. Works on both Handwerk's tools and vanilla mining tools.

🧲 Lodestar Charm
A mystical trinket that draws nearby dropped items and experience toward you.
- Works from your off-hand out of the box.
- With an accessory mod installed (Ohmega or Trinkets Updated), you can equip it in a dedicated accessory slot instead.
- Enchantable with Wide Reach to extend its pull radius.

🏗️ Architectural Options
Expand your building palette with variants that inherit the look and behavior of their base blocks.
- Slabs, Stairs & Trapdoors for a huge range of vanilla blocks — including trickier ones like dirt path, Crying Obsidian, and Magma.
- True to their base — Crying Obsidian variants still weep tear particles, Magma variants still burn and form bubble columns in water, dirt path slabs/stairs keep their lower profile, and grass variants turn snowy under snowfall.
- Lanterns — Small, large, and redstone-powered variants in materials like Copper, Amethyst, and Diamond (includes copper weathering).
- Redstone Chains — Conduct redstone power along their axis for compact, tidy wiring.
- Grass Stairs & Slabs — Biome-tinted so they blend perfectly into the landscape.

⛏️ Ore Variants
Ores that match their surrounding rock perfectly.
- All eight overworld ores (coal, copper, iron, gold, redstone, lapis, diamond, emerald) embedded in granite, diorite, andesite, tuff, and sulfur and cinnabar in the 26.2 sulfur caves.
- Resource-pack friendly — The rock keeps its plain vanilla texture, so any pack restyling granite, tuff, or sulfur applies seamlessly.

🌿 Quality of Life
- Configurable Fast Leaf Decay — Quicker tree cleanup with adjustable timing (optional, can be disabled in the config).
- Vanilla Shovel Tweak — The plain shovel can also toggle between dirt and path (optional, can be disabled in the config).
- Consistent Block Effects — Every variant keeps the exact properties of its base block.
- Craftable Name Tags — Craft name tags from string, a sign, paper, and an iron nugget — no fishing or trading required (Note: Minecraft 26.1 already includes a vanilla crafting recipe for name tags).
🏆 Advancements
A dedicated Handwerk advancement tab guides you through crafting each tool family, forging the Reforging Rune, reaching Netherite, and building your first redstone circuit.

🚀 Just a few clicks
- Download the mod from Modrinth or CurseForge.
- Drop the
.jarinto yourmodsfolder. - Add the dependencies for your loader, matching your Minecraft version:
- Fabric — Fabric API, Fabric Language Kotlin
- NeoForge (26.x) — Kotlin for Forge
Handwerk adds custom blocks, so it belongs on the server and every client — a server-only install won't work.
Optional companions: Ohmega or Trinkets Updated (provides an accessory slot for the Lodestar Charm) and MidnightLib for our mod configuration.

🛠️ Building from Source
Handwerk builds a single source tree into Fabric and native NeoForge jars across every supported Minecraft version. The multi-version (Stonecutter) and multi-loader (platform layer) setup, the build commands, and how to add a version are documented in docs/BUILD.md.
🧪 Testing a Release
Before a release, Handwerk is verified across every supported Minecraft version and loader (Fabric and native NeoForge on 26.x). The full acceptance checklist lives in docs/Handwerk-Test-Protocol.ods — a spreadsheet (opens in LibreOffice Calc or Excel) featuring:
- One row per feature test, detailing the exact in-game commands and expected results.
- A Status dropdown (Pass / Fail / Blocked / N/A / Open) and a note field per target.
- A Summary sheet that tallies the results and automatically displays a per-target release status.
Assemble the test instances from the reports generated by the “Publish Mods (alle Versionen, Dry-Run)” run configuration — one file per upload under build/publish-reports/, as <version>.txt and <version>-neoforge.txt, each listing the jar’s filename and its required and optional dependencies. Export the Test Protocol sheet as CSV for machine-readable results.
