Simple Chunk Loader
Keep your chunks loaded with just two vanilla blocks.
Place a Smoker, stick a Redstone Torch on top, and you're done — no commands, no crafting, no complicated redstone. The chunk stays loaded even when you're thousands of blocks away.
Why use this?
- Dead simple — Two blocks, one placement. That's it.
- Vanilla-friendly — Uses existing blocks, no new items or recipes.
- Visual feedback — Smoke particles confirm the loader is active.
- Server-side only — Works on any server without client mods.
- Survival viable — Smokers and torches are cheap and renewable.
How it works
Place a Smoker, then place a Redstone Torch directly on top. The datapack detects the setup, force-loads the chunk, and sends you a confirmation message with the chunk coordinates.
Breaking either block removes the loader and drops both items normally.
Commands
| Command | Description |
|---|---|
/function scl:cleanup |
Remove all chunk loaders at once (ops only) |
Performance
The datapack scans for new loaders once per second within an 8-block radius of each player — balanced for reliable detection without unnecessary overhead.
Installation
Drop the ZIP into your world's datapacks folder and run /reload.
Requirements
- Minecraft 1.14 or newer
- Any server type (Vanilla, Paper, Spigot, Fabric, Forge)
That's it. Clean, accurate, and to the point. Let me know if you want any tweaks!
