Track your pets' families

Family Tree records the parents of every animal you breed. Press H to open the tree and follow any family back through the generations. Tamed pets join on their own. Farm animals join when you breed or name them.

Vanilla Minecraft bred every baby on this page. Scripts set up the scenes.

Breed better horses

Every horse shows its speed, jump height, and health. A green ▲ marks a stat higher than both parents, a red ▼ one lower than both. Sort your herd by any stat to pick the next pair. Works for horses, donkeys, mules, llamas, and camels.

Plan the next baby

Pick two animals before you feed them. The planner shows each stat's range, the chance the baby beats both parents, the odds of each color, and how closely the pair is related. Best pairs ranks every pair in your herd.

See relatives in the world

Hold the ` key, left of 1, and look at an animal. Its parents, siblings, children, and grandparents nearby glow in their own colors, with labels. Only you see them.

Colors and genes

Find out why a lamb came out pink or a panda brown. Rare colors, like a blue axolotl or a brown mooshroom, get a gold ★.

Works on servers

Install Family Tree on the server and it saves every player's animals with the world. Players with the mod press H. Players without it type /familytree and get chest menus.

Only an animal's owner or an operator can rename it, change its parents, or locate it. By default players see their own animals. A server can let everyone browse every family, with other players' animals view-only and their coordinates hidden.

Server owners get a commented settings file, familytree.* permission nodes for LuckPerms, and a plugin for Paper, Purpur, and Spigot. The server guide lists every setting and node.
