ChatBlock

A simple proxy plugin that blocks commands and chat for selected players before they get sent to the server.

Runs on Velocity, BungeeCord and Waterfall. Designed for server networks where only allowed players (staff, builders) should be able to use commands and chat on certain backend servers, while everyone else is locked down.

• Block commands and/or chat independently, per server
• Blocks plugin and mod commands too (everything sent to the proxy is covered)
• Two blocking modes (global):
  • whitelist — only listed players can use commands/chat
  • blacklist — everyone except listed players can use commands/chat
• Per-server allow lists of commands that are always allowed (e.g. /menu, /warp)
• Hot-reload via commands — no proxy restarts needed
• Bypass permission for trusted players
• Disabled by default — the plugin does nothing until you configure it
• Same configuration file and commands on every platform

Requirements

Installation

1. Download the jar for your proxy from the releases:
   • Velocity: ChatBlock-velocity-<version>.jar
   • BungeeCord / Waterfall: ChatBlock-bungee-<version>.jar
2. Drop the jar into your proxy's plugins/ folder.
3. Restart the proxy (or use /velocity plugins reload if available).
4. Edit the config to enable blocking (see below):
   • Velocity: plugins/chatblock/config.yml
   • BungeeCord / Waterfall: plugins/ChatBlock/config.yml
5. Give yourself the chatblock.admin permission and configure everything in-game with /chatblock.

Configuration

By default the plugin is disabled and does nothing. To enable it:

• mode: whitelist — only players in the server's whitelist can use commands/chat.
• mode: blacklist — everyone can, except players in the server's blacklist.
• mode: disabled — no blocking anywhere.
• Only servers listed under servers: are affected. allowed-commands entries match the command name (with or without /); a base command also allows its subcommands.

All user-facing messages (denied messages, command usage/errors, status output, help) are configurable under messages:. Placeholders like {server}, {user}, {command}, {list}, {mode}, {target} and {value} are replaced automatically. The command-denied and chat-denied.

Commands

All commands require the chatblock.admin permission.

Users can be added by player name or UUID.
