Altered: Random Curses

Random Curses is a Minecraft Java datapack where every new player receives one random curse. While there are fewer online players than curses, each curse stays unique — no two people share the same one. Once the lobby is full, repeats become possible.

The curses

• Grounded — you cannot jump
• Exposed — you cannot wear armor; anything equipped is dropped
• Insomniac — beds and respawn anchors are blocked, and your spawn point is permanently locked
• Pacifist — you cannot hit mobs
• Fragile Hands — you cannot break blocks
• Glass Heart — only 1 health point
• Single Slot — only hotbar slot 1 works; the rest are locked with barriers
• Bound Inventory — only the hotbar is usable; inventory slots are locked
• Empty Grave — on death, all items vanish without a trace
• Everhunger — constant starvation
• Eternal Night — permanent blindness and darkness
• Twin Affliction — two random curses at once
• Triple Affliction — three random curses at once

Twin and Triple can include any curse, but never the same effect twice.

Install

Drop the zip into the world’s datapacks folder, then run /reload.

Op commands

• /function random_curses:reroll

• /execute as PlayerName run function random_curses:reroll

• /execute as PlayerName run function random_curses:clear_curse
