Assorted Buckets

Buckets that hold more than one bucket. A diamond bucket carries 16 buckets of water, lava or milk and a netherite one carries 64, so you can drain a whole pond without walking back and forth. There's one in every material, and each has a milk version.

How it works

  • Right click a fluid to fill the bucket and right click a block to pour out one bucket of it. The bar under the bucket shows how full it is.
  • A bucket holds one fluid at a time. Water, lava, milk and fluids from other mods all work.
  • Wooden and stone buckets hold one bucket and break once you pour it out. Gold holds 4, diamond 16 and netherite 64.
  • Hotter fluids need a sturdier bucket. A wooden bucket leaves lava alone.
  • Upgrade a diamond bucket to netherite at a smithing table. Netherite buckets don't burn up if you drop them in lava.
  • Copper, emerald and amethyst buckets work right away. Tin, silver, steel, ruby and the rest can be made once another mod adds that metal or gem.
  • Dispensers can fill and empty them too.

Milk

  • Every bucket can milk a cow. Diamond buckets can milk sheep as well, and netherite buckets pigs too.
  • Drinking from a milk bucket only uses up one bucket of milk and keeps the rest.
  • Full milk buckets work in cake, taking one bucket of milk each.

Config

These are in the assortedbuckets-common config file. Changes need a restart.

  • Each material has its own settings under better_buckets.<material> for how many buckets it holds, what it can milk, how hot a fluid it can pick up and whether it breaks after use.
  • better_buckets.allowPartialBucketAmounts lets a bucket hold part of a bucket, so some can be left over after pouring out the full ones. Off by default.

Updating from Assorted Tools 11.x

Worlds made with Assorted Tools 11.x keep everything when you switch to this mod. Don't install it beside Assorted Tools 11.x.

Requirements

Buckets also comes in Assorted Tools with the other Tools mods, if you'd rather have them all in one download.
