The Weeping Rift Version 1.0.0 | Minecraft 26.2 | Fabric | Client + Server Lore Legend speaks of a forgotten passage buried deep within the world's fractures. Built from crying obsidian, its surface flows with an ice-cyan glow ā like tears of cold starlight fallen from the End. Some have found its remains among Nether ruins: the twisted purple streaks weeping down those ruined portals are the very marks of the rift's presence.Yet the rift does not open for everyone. It answers only to those who have seen the End with their own eyes. Those who seek a shortcut will find the gate standing silent, cold as a tombstone. Core Features š The Weeping Rift Portal Built exactly like a nether portal ā simply swap the obsidian for crying obsidian Ignite the inside of the frame with flint and steel, and the ice-cyan rift awakens within The portal surface glows with animated ice-cyan (#4DE8FF) currents, emits a soft light level 7, and sheds dark, black-leaning cyan particles The rift can be ignited in the Nether or the End, connecting the two dimensions; lighting one in the Overworld has no effect š Progress Gate (Anti-Skip Design) Travel from the Nether into the End through the rift is reserved for players who have legitimately reached the End "Legitimately" means entering the End through the stronghold's end portal in the Overworld ā the one true path in vanilla Ungated players who step into the rift will not teleport; instead they receive a message: "The rift remains silent: you have not yet entered the End through the stronghold portal in the Overworld." The progress flag is persisted per player ā it survives death and persists across sessions Items, mobs, and all non-player entities are equally barred, closing every bypass The End ā Nether direction is unrestricted ā if you can reach the End, you've passed the trial Upon first entering the End through the stronghold portal, players receive a message telling them the rift has awakened š Mutated Nether Ruined Portals The rift's taint has seeped into the Nether's ruined portals as well: Doubled generation rate ā ruined portals appear far more often while exploring the Nether (Overworld distribution is completely untouched) About half of them are "mutated": the obsidian and crying obsidian in the frame swap wholesale ā plain obsidian frames become crying obsidian, while the original specks of crying obsidian turn back into plain obsidian Loot chests in mutated portals are upgraded accordingly: Vanilla Drop Mutated Drop Golden sword / axe / pickaxe / shovel / hoe Diamond sword / axe / pickaxe / shovel / hoe (random enchants kept) Golden helmet / chestplate / leggings / boots Diamond helmet / chestplate / leggings / boots (random enchants kept) Golden horse armor Diamond horse armor Obsidian Crying obsidian Golden apples, gold ingots, bells, glistering melon slices, and other drops remain unchanged Whether a portal mutates is decided deterministically at generation ā the same portal at the same coordinates will always yield the same result, no matter how many times the world regenerates Design Philosophy This mod adds a fresh mid-to-late-game route to survival progression: Early & mid game: progress as usual ā explore the Overworld, find the stronghold, enter the End through its portal (no skipping allowed) Unlocked thereafter: the crying obsidian rift becomes a rapid corridor between the End and the Nether, sparing you the tedium of repeated long journeys Extra exploration incentive: doubled ruined portals in the Nether plus diamond-grade loot in about half of them turn Nether ruins from "glance and move on" into treasure spots worth looting ā and a mutated frame itself is a ready-made source of crying obsidian, perfect for building your very own rift gate Compatibility Only requires Fabric API, no other dependencies Pure vanilla-style implementation: the custom block, structure set, and loot tables all go through standard registry and datapack mechanics, keeping it friendly with other mods The progress gate applies per player in multiplayer ā everyone's progress is tracked independently Required on both server and client "When the obsidian begins to weep, its tears will carve the road home for those who have seen the End."
