WildCall: Companion & Mount Whistle (v1.0.0)
A simple, lightweight survival datapack to recall your bonded horses, wolves, cats, and parrots from across any dimension using a craftable whistle.
Short Description (Modrinth Summary)
Recall horses and tamed pets across all dimensions with a craftable whistle! Auto-mount, unsit, and configurable via chat GUI.
Key Features
- Universal Pet & Mount Recall: Right-click the flute (or run
/trigger whistle) to summon all your bonded companions directly to you. - Simple One-Drop Bonding: Throw the flute (
[Q]key) onto any horse or pet to toggle bonding on/off. You can also bond automatically just by riding your horse. - Automatic Mounting: Instantly mounts you on your horse when called (can be toggled on/off in the chat menu).
- Auto-Unsit: Recalled dogs, cats, and parrots automatically stand up from sitting positions upon arrival.
- Cross-Dimensional Retrieval: 6-stage async chunk loader safely brings pets back from the Overworld, Nether, or End.
- Emergency Rescue: One-click emergency command to retrieve all your tamed pets across every dimension if they are lost.
- In-Game Chat GUI: Sneak + right-click with the flute (or type
/trigger menu) to configure audio cues, visual particles, range, and cooldown timers.

- Chunk Loading Speed & Entity Detection: The datapack uses temporary background chunk loading (
forceload) to locate pets in unloaded areas. The time it takes to detect and retrieve distant companions depends on how fast your game loads chunks. - PC Performance & Hardware: On lower-end PCs or worlds with heavy disk/CPU load, cross-dimensional recalls may take 2–5 seconds while chunk data is being read and decompressed. The action bar shows live progress while this happens.
- Do Not Spam the Whistle: Allow the recall cycle and cooldown to finish before whistling again. Rapidly spamming the whistle while moving or jumping can cause desync and may accidentally teleport pets below the floor or into ground blocks.
- Requires Open Space: Horses, camels, and other large mounts need enough physical clearance to teleport safely. If you whistle inside narrow 1x1 corridors, caves, or tight rooms, your mounts may get trapped inside walls or take suffocation damage. Always call your mounts in open areas.
- Undead Horses Behavior: Due to vanilla entity tagging, skeleton and zombie horses share horse mob tags. Untamed undead horses spawned during world events (like skeleton traps) may occasionally be recalled by the global rescue routine.
