๐๏ธ That's Not Me ๐๏ธ
That's Not Me is an early-development Minecraft horror mod built around a horror experience that progresses as you survive.
The mod is currently in Pre-Alpha, meaning this is a very early and experimental version of the project. Many of the systems planned for That's Not Me are either incomplete, buggy, or not implemented yet.
In its current state, the mod features a 3-day horror progression centered around a mysterious entity that begins appearing in your world. As the days progress, encounters with the entity change, eventually leading into a hunt sequence where the entity actively comes after you.
This Pre-Alpha is essentially an early look at the foundation of what That's Not Me is planned to become.
๐๏ธ What's in the Mod ๐๏ธ
Spoiler
The current version of That's Not Me includes:
-
3-Day Horror Progression โ The experience progresses across three Minecraft days, with the horror changing as time passes.
-
Mysterious Entity โ An unnatural figure begins appearing throughout your world as part of the progression.
-
Progressive Encounters โ The entity's presence and behavior change as you advance through the three days.
-
The Hunt โ The progression eventually leads into a hunt where the entity stops simply being a presence and begins actively pursuing you.
-
Survival-Based Horror โ The mod is designed to take place during a normal Minecraft survival playthrough rather than on a custom adventure map.
-
Early Horror Systems โ This version contains the first implementations of systems that will eventually become part of a much larger horror experience.
This is currently a very small and very early version of the mod. Don't expect a massive content mod yet.
๐ How It Works ๐
That's Not Me uses a day-based progression system. You can begin playing Minecraft normally, but as the days progress, the mod begins introducing its horror elements. The current Pre-Alpha lasts for three days, with the experience escalating throughout those days until eventually reaching the Hunt. The goal is to make the horror feel like something developing alongside your survival world rather than immediately spawning a monster and turning Minecraft into a chase.
Future versions will greatly expand this system beyond what is currently available.
๐ The Hunt ๐
The long-term goal of That's Not Me is to create horror using Minecraft itself rather than depending on things such as IP-address scares, fake personal information, or constant fourth-wall-breaking tricks.
The horror is intended to come from your world slowly becoming less trustworthy.
Something appears.
Something changes.
Eventually, something comes after you.
Future versions are planned to build significantly upon this concept with longer progression, new events, more advanced entities, story elements, and eventually a complete ending.
Those features are not part of the current Pre-Alpha unless specifically stated above.
โ ๏ธ PRE-ALPHA WARNING โ ๏ธ
THIS MOD IS CURRENTLY IN PRE-ALPHA.
This version is unfinished, scuffed, experimental, and very buggy.
You may encounter:
- Broken or inconsistent events
- Entity behavior that doesn't work correctly
- Visual glitches
- Progression bugs
- Features that don't trigger when expected
- General unfinished behavior
If you're looking for a polished and complete horror mod, this version isn't there yet.
If you want to experience the project from its earliest stages and see what That's Not Me eventually grows into, that's what this Pre-Alpha is for.
Multiplayer
Multiplayer is NOT currently supported.
Multiplayer may cause additional bugs, broken progression, incorrect events, and potentially game-breaking problems.
Singleplayer is strongly recommended.
๐จ The Future of That's Not Me ๐จ
That's Not Me originally started as a challenge for a YouTube video:
I come up with the ideas, and ChatGPT helps me create the mod.
It was never originally supposed to become a large project.
But during development, I started getting more ideas and saw the potential for something much bigger.
The eventual goal is to turn That's Not Me into a full Minecraft horror experience featuring longer progression, evolving horror, major events, story elements, and an actual ending.
But that's the future.
Right now?
It's a broken little Pre-Alpha monster.

If you want access to the Alpha versions that are actively developed and kept up to date, you can join my Discord and become a Play Tester.
Play Testers can play newer development builds of That's Not Me as the mod continues to grow, while also helping find bugs and test new features before they make their way into public releases. AKA, Here... Modrinth will only recieve Stable Alpha, Beta and Official Releases going foward. Which means MONTHS of time in between Public releases. BUT Play Testers in my discord can sign up easily, with the click of a button, and thats it, and all you need to do is play, report bugs, and enjoy the progress of the mod. You will be credited in the mods credits, and Play Testing is 100% Voluntary. You can join my discord here

๐ ๏ธ Solo Development ๐ ๏ธ
That's Not Me is developed by just me.
Everything from coming up with the ideas and designing new features to 3D modeling, rigging, animating, testing, and putting it all together in-game is handled by me.
Because of that, major updates can take some time. I'd rather take the time to properly create and test new content than rush features out unfinished.
Development may be slow, but That's Not Me is constantly getting closer to the horror mod I want it to become. Again, I am a Solo Developer with not a whole lot of modding experience, so when it comes to making this complex mod, it takes weeks to get a stable test version for my Play Testers... Thank your for your patience.
๐ค AI Disclosure ๐ค
While Majority of this Mod is completely done by me. As per Modrinths disclosure. I would like to mention, being a Solo Developer. I could not make this mod alone. and I will mention my work and any work AI has had to do here. I would like to make it clear, this mod is heavily done by me, with the assistance of AI, any work found was my idea, and mostly done by me with a few exceptions.
๐ง My Work ๐ง
I have done ALL the planning for this mod, making ideas, building story, making items, features. all planning is done from hours of sitting and thinking. In this early build, I have done just about everything. from coding and scripting. to building in game builds, adding them into the game. gathering sounds effects. and making the actual mod.
๐ค AI Work ๐ค
I have not been able to make it this far alone. I have ran into road blocks, where as a Solo and New developer, I havent been able to get around. An example of this would be "The Player Copying System" I had struggled day and night, trying to make the Mimic copy any player model, and I did end up using AI to write a Python code, to help me get the Mimic to copy the players UUID. Ontop of that, I struggled with pinpointing code failure during bug testing. Where I used AI to scan the code and find the problem, so I could work around to fix it.
I do not use AI To build any mod publicly, I do most of the work myself. I do however use AI as a tool, and as a Solo New Developer, to find ways around serious road blocks that Tutorials can not help me with. I do not allow AI to generate any code directly to the mod. I instead use AI to tell me how to fix the code, With the 1 exception of the Player copying system.
