Psychosis
A Minecraft horror experience where not everything is what it seems.
Welcome to Psychosis.
The forest is quiet. The caves are dark. The night is beautiful.
Everything seems completely normal.
Probably.
Sometimes you might hear footsteps behind you.
Sometimes something moves between the trees.
Sometimes you notice a strange figure, look away for a second, and find nothing there.
And sometimes...
you really should have stayed home.
What is Psychosis?
Psychosis is a Minecraft horror experience built around exploration, survival, atmosphere, and constant uncertainty.
Instead of throwing monsters at you every five seconds, Psychosis makes you question what is actually happening.
The world can be strange.
The sounds can be strange.
Even your own eyes can deceive you.
Explore dangerous forests, mysterious caves, abandoned places, and hidden locations while uncovering secrets scattered throughout the world.
Just remember: curiosity can sometimes be a terrible survival strategy.
Sanity System
Your health is not the only thing you need to worry about.
Psychosis features a sanity system that gradually affects the way you perceive the world around you.
As your sanity decreases, you may experience:
- Hallucinations
- Strange sounds
- Shadow figures
- Visual distortions
- Unusual events
- Movement where nothing should be moving
- The feeling that something is watching you
The important part is figuring out what is actually happening.
Not everything you see is real.
But not everything is imaginary either.
Creatures & Survival
The world is inhabited by creatures that do not always behave the way you expect.
Some may attack immediately.
Others may simply watch you from a distance.
Some can react to noise, movement, or your actions.
Running away is not always the best option.
Sometimes hiding is smarter.
Sometimes making absolutely no noise is smarter.
And sometimes...
you really should have run.
Exploration
The world is more than just forests and caves.
Explore abandoned places, mysterious structures, forgotten locations, and strange areas hidden throughout the world.
You may discover useful resources, hidden stories, mysterious notes, or something that makes you regret ever entering that building.
Exploration is encouraged.
Carelessness is not.
Story & Mystery
Psychosis features environmental storytelling, hidden lore, mysterious notes, secret locations, and discoveries scattered throughout the world.
There is no giant arrow constantly telling you where to go.
Look around.
Read the notes you find.
Pay attention to your surroundings.
Sometimes the smallest detail can lead to something much bigger.
Building
Horror does not mean you cannot build yourself a cozy place to live.
Build anything from a small cabin in the woods to a large settlement.
Use decorative blocks, furniture, and a variety of building materials to create your own base and turn the world into a place you can call home.
Just remember to lock the door.
Probably.
Immersion
Psychosis combines environmental effects, ambient sounds, visual improvements, interactive features, and gameplay mechanics to make the world feel more alive.
The goal is not simply to make everything dark.
The goal is to make you feel like something could happen at any moment.
You might spend ten minutes peacefully building your house.
Then you hear something outside.
You look through the window.
Nothing.
You go back to building.
Then you hear it again.
Optimization
Psychosis is heavily optimized for a comfortable gameplay experience despite the large amount of content included in the modpack.
The focus is on stability, memory usage, and consistent performance.
Recommended RAM
For a comfortable experience, Minecraft should be allocated 3 GB to 7 GB of RAM.
The exact amount depends on your hardware, shader settings, and the number of players.
More RAM does not always mean better performance, so avoid allocating more memory than Minecraft actually needs.
Recommended Shaders
Lower-end PCs
- CTR VCR
Higher-end PCs
- Spooklementary
Shaders are optional, but recommended if your hardware can handle them.
Important Information
Before playing Psychosis:
- Configure your settings and keybinds.
- Keep the included resource packs enabled.
- Do not manually update individual mods.
- Avoid adding extra mods unless you understand the possible compatibility issues.
- Use the recommended Minecraft and modloader versions.
- For the best experience, use the configuration included with the modpack.
Psychosis uses custom configurations specifically designed for this experience.
Changing them may affect gameplay, performance, or compatibility.
Beta Status
Psychosis is currently in its first public beta.
The project will continue to receive new content and improvements, including new creatures, events, mechanics, structures, stories, and atmospheric features.
There is still a lot left to discover.
Explore the world.
Build your base.
Go mining.
Enter that suspicious forest.
And if you suddenly hear footsteps behind you...
Maybe don't turn around.
