A vanilla-style survival datapack that makes the world worth exploring and your equipment worth choosing carefully.
Only familiar Minecraft items take on additional uses/effects, no custom items or recipes.
Intended to be played on a new world on hard difficulty.
--->THE DATAPACK MAKES THE GAMEPLAY CHANGES, THE MOD IS ONLY FOR THE TOOLTIPS.
Summary:
- Find enchanted golden apples to permanently increase your starting health of 10HP/5♥.
- Armor trims, armor trim materials (ingots/crystals) and the 10 unique banner patterns (applied to shields) grant unique stats and abilities. Wearing 4 armor pieces with matching trim patterns unlocks a set bonus that changes how you fight, travel and explore.
- Combat is more dangerous with x2 mob damage and natural regeneration turned off, but the common vanilla sources of healing are stronger (sleeping also heals).
- Equipped armor and your offhand item stay with you when you die. All XP is dropped and recoverable.
- Enchanting tables reach maximum power with only 4 diagonal bookshelves, fishing and trading have also been made made less effective for obtaining strong enchantments.
- Strip mining for diamonds and lapis is effectively pointless. Villagers do not buy anything, only sell, and cannot reproduce.
- No elytra!
Comprehensive list of all content/changes:
1. Survival, health and death
- Mob damage is doubled after normal damage reduction. Natural regeneration is disabled.
- Start with 5 hearts. Each enchanted golden apple adds one permanent heart (2 HP), up to 20 base hearts; equipment can push this to 25. Player size starts at 83.3% (1.5 blocks high) at 5 maximum hearts. Each additional heart added increases player size by 1.36% up to 110.5% size at 25 hearts (1.99 blocks high).
- Golden apples heal for double (12HP/6♥) and Suspicious stew made from Oxeye-daisy heal for triple HP (6HP/3♥).
- Completing a night’s sleep restores full HP in normal beds; straw beds restore half HP.
- Equipped armor and offhand items remain on death; other inventory items and FULL XP drop.
2. Trim patterns, trim materials and banner patterns on shields
Material bonuses apply per equipped trimmed armor piece.

Shield bonuses require the offhand. Only the last-applied special pattern counts; ordinary decorative layers do not override it.

Armor trims and netherite templates cannot be crafted. Per-piece effects (almost always) stack. Full-set effects require 4 matching patterns.
Increased trim loot table chances:
- Silence 3.75% (x3)
- Ward 10% (x2)
- Rib 20% (x3)
- Spire 20% (x3)
- Snout 25% (x3)
- Bolt 18.75% (x3)
- Tide 40% (x2)

Abilities include distinct thematic sounds, sometimes paired with very light visuals, cooldown/duration displays.
3. Villagers, enchanting and fishing
- Only 4 diagonal bookshelves contribute to enchanting-table power.
- Fishing enchanted books contain non-treasure enchantments capped at level II.
- Villager breeding and trades that pay emeralds are disabled (with the exception of the wandering trader). Cannot reroll villager profession by breaking and replacing their workstation.
- Professions offer all their otherwise vanilla trades from novice level. Three purchases advance each profession level. Ordinary prices decrease by 5% per profession level, reaching 20% off at "master level" traders.
- Reputation/cure discounts and demand-based price changes are removed.
- Librarian villagers offer three distinct enchantment types:
- level I for 16 emeralds
- level II for 32 emeralds
- level V or Mending/Infinity/Silk Touch for 64 emeralds.
Each enchanted book trade only available once, no restocking.
4. Exploration, travel and loot
- Elytra are disabled, they cannot be picked up.
- Dirt paths grant +25% movement speed to players, horses, pigs and villagers. Making sloped paths with slabs doesnt interupt the speed bonus.
- Diamond generation favors cave/water-adjacent locations: medium-vein attempts are doubled and large-vein attempts quadrupled. Small and buried generation is practically disabled.
- Lapis has four cave/water-adjacent attempts per chunk, no buried generation either, and drops one lapis per ore block before Fortune enchantment is applied.
- Armor-trim and Netherite-upgrade templates cannot be duplicated/crafted in survival.
- Enchanted golden apple loot table chances are tripled (x3) in six chest sources:
- Mineshafts 4.23%
- Ruined portals 4.49%
- Desert pyramids 7.22%
- Dungeons 8.26%
- Woodland mansions 11.08%
- Bastion treasure chests 15.79%.
Ancient City apple chances remain 8.57%; ominous vaults remain 22.5%.
Installation & recommendations
- Put the Liberica Flavoured.zip in the "AppData\Roaming.minecraft\saves\YOUR WORLD\datapacks" folder.
- I cannot guarantee removing or adding this datapack mid-playthrough will not cause problems.
- I have not tested this datapack combined with other mods affecting the same game-mechanics.
- Sparse structures can be combined with Liberica flavoured; configured correctly it can decrease rarity of the trims found in structures further by making specific structures more common.
- Other datapacks such as Grim Kingdoms and all the "Epic Structures" by Hardwater also decreases armor trim rarity in a more fun way by adding cool structures containing many of the loot chests with trims. Not as vanilla friendly, but it works great from my testing, highly recommend!

If you want sleek looking tooltips describing all the changes/additions made by Liberica Flavoured in-game install the following 5 mods:
- Enchantment Insights
- Puzzles Lib
- Forge Config API port
- Fabric API
- Liberica Insights ← My mod, found in "Versions" here
All credit to Fuzs for the tooltip concept, all his mods are great!
Notes
This is a project developed by and for me first hand, and it's my subjective take on what changes/additions to Minecraft make the game more fun :)
I am almost completely new to modding, expect some bugs and inconsistencies as of BETA release. Things are bound to get changed/patched.
