Revision is a modpack that delivers what the trailers promised.
The main goal was to make the game look and feel like the trailers. Beyond visuals, Revision overhauls exploration, improves on existing features and brings perfomance improvements. You can find a detailed description of most features here:
Spoiler
Exploration
Seven new biomes and improvements to the existing ones: boulders, stone formations, unique flowers and trees with variety. Nether got new beautiful, yet frightening biomes. The End stretches to 384 blocks with shattered islands, floating valleys, meteor fields.
Underground got updated with new unique biomes, occasional tremors, and fully overhauled dungeons that are fun to explore.
Structures are worth finding as well: towers, temples and taverns. Smaller details too: bridges, wagons, wells, etc.
Illagers are now actually a threat - you can come across guarded convoys, camps and castles.
Visuals & Sound
Everything is animated: hands, mobs, players, blocks, projectiles, UI and more. Every interaction has its own sound and particle, every block, every UI click. Rain sounds differ by surface. Ambient sounds depending on the biome.
A World That Moves
When you return from a long journey, your house might be overgrown by then. Ivy grows on trees, moss spreads on stone, iron rusts in rain. Icicles form on your roof, snow settles on blocks in winter, crops respond to weather. Nether portals corrupt the ground around them.
Gameplay
Farm and hostile mobs now have variants.
Creepers can blend into their surroundings, spiders trap you in webs and animals flee if you attack one of them. Horses now can swim, pull carts and carry two players.
Trees fall when you cut them down, reel in live fish, switch tools while breaking blocks, graves appear on death and much more.
Optimization
Performance took as much work as anything else. Shaders are configured for the best quality you can get at a stable framerate, and every mod and setting got the same attention.
