Wear & Tear
Your tools and armour now look the way they feel. As durability drops, items scuff, crack, chip and finally fall apart, so you can tell at a glance when something is about to break.
Wear stages
| Durability used | Look |
|---|---|
| 35% | Scuffed and slightly stained |
| 60% | Cracked and discoloured, with chipped edges |
| 85% | Nearly broken, with heavy cracks and small holes |
Copper doesn't just crack, it turns green with verdigris.
What's covered
- Tools and weapons: swords, pickaxes, axes, shovels, hoes and spears in wood, stone, iron, gold, copper, diamond and netherite
- Armour: chainmail, iron, gold, copper, diamond, netherite, leather and the turtle helmet, on the inventory icon and on your character
- Other gear: bow, crossbow, fishing rod, brush, trident icon, mace, shears, flint and steel, carrot on a stick, warped fungus on a stick
- Elytra: the icon and the worn wings
Requirements
This pack uses Custom Item Textures, so you need one of these:
- OptiFine (turn on Video Settings > Quality > Custom Items)
- A Fabric CIT mod such as CIT Resewn
On 1.21.4 and newer, tools, mace, shears, flint and steel, carrot on a stick and warped fungus on a stick also wear with no mod at all. Armour, bows, crossbows, elytra and the other multi-texture items still need OptiFine or a CIT mod.
Versions
Supports Java Edition 1.15 to 26.1. Copper gear only exists in 1.21.9+ and spears in 1.21.11+, so on older versions those textures simply go unused.
Not included
Shield and the held trident (the game draws these itself), wolf armour (the game already cracks it), and horse and nautilus armour (they have no durability).
Installing
- Download the zip and put it in your
resourcepacksfolder, or add it through Options > Resource Packs. - Enable it.
- Make sure OptiFine's Custom Items setting is on, or that your CIT mod is installed.
Notes
Bug reports are welcome. Please include your Minecraft version and whether you use OptiFine or a CIT mod.
