Natural Propagation
Let the wilderness reclaim the world around you.
Natural Propagation adds dynamic forest expansion to Minecraft by allowing trees to naturally spread over time. Leaves from existing trees can occasionally plant new saplings nearby, creating slowly evolving forests that feel more alive and organic.
No giant worldgen overhaul.
No complicated mechanics.
Just forests behaving a little more naturally.
Features
- 🌱 Trees naturally spread new saplings nearby
- 🌳 Saplings match the parent tree type
- 🍃 Works with multiple vanilla tree species
- ❄️ Can replace small replaceable plants like grass and snow layers
- 🪵 Prevents overcrowding by avoiding nearby logs
- ⚙️ Fully configurable spread timing and radius
- 🌎 Runs dynamically during gameplay in loaded areas
How It Works
Every so often, the mod:
- Finds a nearby leaf block
- Searches for valid ground nearby
- Checks for open space and nearby trees
- Plants a matching sapling naturally
Over time, forests slowly expand outward into open terrain.
Configuration
The mod includes configurable values for:
- Spread interval
- Leaf scan radius
- Sapling placement radius
- Ground search depth
Perfect for:
- Survival worlds
- Long-term servers
- Wilderness-focused modpacks
- Nature/overgrowth themes
Performance
Natural Propagation is designed to be lightweight:
- Limited search attempts
- No massive world scans
- Only operates in loaded areas near players
- Small localized block checks
Future Plans
Potential future additions may include:
- Biome-aware spreading
- Modded tree compatibility
- Mushroom spreading
- Seasonal behavior
- Configurable growth density
- Regeneration after deforestation
Let nature take its course.
