Slowdown

Stop speedrunning. Start playing.

Slowdown turns Minecraft into a journey through the ages. You start with wooden tools only, and every new tier of gear (and every dimension) unlocks once you've completed real early-game goals. No rushing iron in 10 minutes or a Nether portal in 20. Build, farm, explore, and earn your progress.

The Ages

  • Armored Companion: put Wolf Armor on your tamed wolf
  • Uh Oh: let a Sulfur Cube absorb TNT

  • The Cutest Predator: catch an axolotl in a bucket
🔥 The Nether: unlocks Nether portals
  • Cover Me with Diamonds: wear a piece of diamond armor
  • Ice Bucket Challenge: get obsidian
  • Enchanter: enchant an item
  • Under Lock and Key: open a vault with a Trial Key
🌌 The End: unlocks the End portal
  • A Terrible Fortress: find a Nether Fortress
  • Those Were the Days: find a Bastion Remnant
  • Into Fire: get a blaze rod
  • Local Brewery: brew a potion
  • What a Deal!: trade with a villager
  • Sneak 100: sneak near a Sculk Sensor or Warden
  • A Throwaway Joke: throw a trident at something
  • Hero of the Village: win a raid
  • Crafting a New Look: trim a piece of armor
  • Bring Home the Beacon: build a beacon

Features

  • Gear tiers are locked: you can't craft stone, copper, iron or diamond tools & armor until you reach that age. Ores can still be mined and smelted.
  • Portals turn you away until you've unlocked their dimension. No early Nether/End trips and no advancements for getting in.
  • /trigger slowdown shows your current age and a ✔/✘ checklist of what's left.
  • Own advancement tab with a title, sound and chat message for every new age.
  • Configurable: turn off the gear locks, or enable shared progress (when one player reaches an age, everyone does).
  • Creative & spectator players are never blocked.

Setup

Drop the zip into your world's datapacks folder and run /reload. Server ops can run /function slowdown:admin/help for settings and admin commands.

Notes

  • Gold gear, shields, buckets and shears are never locked.
  • Crafter is also locked, it is unlocked in diamond phase.
