Welcome to the Alternate Era SMP

The Alternate Era SMP is a cross-platform Minecraft survival server built around a pretty simple idea: Minecraft is better when you have a good group of people to play it with.

We're not trying to completely reinvent Minecraft or turn survival into a giant collection of menus, crates, and nonsense. We wanted to build a server that still feels like Minecraft, while adding enough quality-of-life features, community systems, and progression to give you a reason to keep coming back.

Whether you want to build a massive base, become obscenely wealthy, explore thousands of blocks away from spawn, open a shop, hunt for rare items, work together with other players, or just log in and hang out for a few hours, you're welcome here.

Java & Bedrock Crossplay

One of the most important things to us was making sure people could actually play together.

The Alternate Era SMP supports both Minecraft Java Edition and Bedrock Edition, so PC, console, tablet, and mobile players can all be part of the same world.

No "sorry, wrong version of Minecraft" required.

Survival, Without Losing the Point of Survival

At its core, this is still a survival server.

You gather your resources. You build your base. You explore. You die somewhere incredibly inconvenient and question every decision that led you to that moment.

We've added server features where they make the experience better, but the goal isn't to automate the actual game out of Minecraft.

You'll find things like a server economy, shops, teleportation and homes, player statistics, leaderboards, proximity voice chat for supported clients, and other quality-of-life features built around the survival experience.

Build Something

Some people want to grind.

Some people want to build.

Some people somehow spend four hours organizing their storage room and consider that a productive Minecraft session.

All of those people belong here.

We're building the SMP around a long-term world where players can create towns, bases, farms, businesses, ridiculous projects, and whatever else the community comes up with.

The coolest part of an SMP isn't what the server owner builds.

It's what everybody builds together.

A Real Community

Alternate Era originally started as a community around our YouTube channel and livestreams, and the SMP has grown into an extension of that.

That means you'll occasionally see us playing on the server, streaming from it, checking out things people have built, starting community projects, causing problems we absolutely did not anticipate, and generally hanging out with everyone.

You don't have to watch Alternate Era to play here, though.

If you're looking for a Minecraft community and want somewhere you can actually settle in rather than being another username in a server with 10,000 people online, come hang out.

Play Your Way

Build an empire.

Start a shop.

Become the richest person on the server.

Disappear into the wilderness and construct something nobody discovers for three months.
