Incensed
What it does
This data pack lets lit campfires, candles, torches, and other supported blocks absorb splash and lingering potions. When a potion hits them, it’s neutralized and the corresponding block starts granting that effect to nearby players, with matching colored particles.
Customization
You can tweak settings using /function incensed:_config to change:
- Allow Splash: Whether splash potions can create incense.
- Allow Lingering: Whether lingering potions can create incense.
- Emit Effect Particles: Whether the incensed block shows potion-colored particles.
- Emit Smoke Particles: Whether the incensed block emits smoke particles.
- Show Player Particles: Whether player effects show particles.
- Effect Duration: How long the refreshed effect lasts on players.
- Effect Range: How far the incense effect reaches.
- Signal Effect Range: How far the incense effect reaches when using a signal-fire block.
- Update Sound: Whether a sound plays when the incense gets applied.
Edit the #incensed:incensable block tag to change which blocks can absorb potions.
If you ever need to remove the datapack, use /function incensed:uninstall to remove its data.
What's Next
In future updates, I plan to expand incense customization with more item interactions and config options, such as:
- Letting admins set default incenses on blocks through the config.
- Allowing incenses to hold multiple effects at once.
- Show incense info on actionbar.
- Require using an item to ignite an incense.
- Adding an option for infinite or long-lasting effects.
- Adding special item-based upgrades for custom behavior, like applying effects to mobs, scare them away, increase effect duration, etc.
