Small utility mod that helps you save keybinds between instances of your game, and refreshes the look of the keybinds menu so it is easier to use.
What does this mean?
You can export and import your keybinds in JSON format (vanilla and modded keybinds)
- If you have keybinds from mods that you do not have installed they are skipped safely. Counted.
- You can copy this file to another install, hit import, and you are done.
Wonderful UI design for the keybinds menu
- I created and designed the buttons by hand, so you can enjoy the good looking pixel art GUI
- Keys without a sprite fall back to text with no vanilla button texture.
The mod has a mod sidebar
- I added a small sidebar that categorizes the keybinds based on mods. You do not have to hunt for the exact keybind for e.g. Fullbright, you can just click on the Fullbright mod and there it is.
You can search for keybinds
- Pretty neat function, will not say anything more since many keybind mods have it.
Installation
It takes about a minute (or less)
- Grab the Fabric Loader from https://fabricmc.net/use/
- Grab the Fabric API from https://modrinth.com/mod/fabric-api, this one is required
- Drop the universalkeybinds jar into your mods folder
That is genuinely it. 🤯 (might take longer if you have no idea what you are doing)
ModMenu is optional
- If you already have it installed, the config screen shows up there like you would expect
- If you would rather not add another mod, there is a gear button right inside the keybinds screen that opens the exact same settings
Works on Minecraft 1.20 to 1.20.6, 1.21 to 1.21.11, and 26.1 to 26.2.
Profile format
It is just plain JSON, nothing scary in there
- You can diff it, sync it, or throw it in your dotfiles
- Open it in any text editor and hand edit it if you feel like it

License
Universal Keybinds is dual licensed. Short version first, boring version after.
The short version
- Code is MIT, take it and build whatever you want
- The pixel art is CC BY 4.0, so if you use my keycaps somewhere else just credit me
- Only playing the mod, or shipping it in a modpack? You owe me nothing, go have fun
Code: MIT
You can use, modify and redistribute the code, including commercially. MIT asks that you keep the copyright notice and license text with any substantial copy of the source.
Assets: CC BY 4.0
This covers the icons, the keycap sprites and every other piece of pixel art in here. You are free to use and adapt them, including commercially, as long as you credit ReimaginedPixel (aka me), link back to the project and name the license.
A suggested credit line:
Keycap pixel art by ReimaginedPixel, CC BY 4.0 (https://github.com/ReimaginedPixel/UniversalKeybinds)
As the copyright holder I also waive attribution in two cases: playing the mod, and shipping the jar unmodified in a modpack. Neither one needs credit.
