Zombified Illagers
Zombified Illagers adds a complete zombification system to Minecraft, introducing new ways for villagers, horses, and illagers to become undead.
Use the Zombification Potion or Zombification Arrow to manually transform supported mobs, or allow illagers to become infected naturally when they are killed by zombie-type enemies.
The mod adds four zombified illagers, new hostile interactions between zombies and illagers, and a corrupted Totem of Undying with powerful benefits and dangerous side effects.
Zombification System
The Zombification effect can transform the following mobs:
- Villager → Zombie Villager
- Horse → Zombie Horse
- Pillager → Zombified Pillager
- Vindicator → Zombified Vindicator
- Evoker → Zombified Evoker
- Witch → Zombified Witch
When a horse is transformed, its important data is preserved, including:
- Tamed status
- Owner
- Temper
- Saddle
Players cannot be transformed into zombies. When the Zombification effect is applied to a player, the player receives Hunger I for 30 seconds instead.
Mobs that are not supported by the zombification system will not be transformed.
Zombification Items
The mod adds several ways to apply the Zombification effect:
- Zombification Potion
- Splash Zombification Potion
- Lingering Zombification Potion
- Zombification Arrow
These items can be used to transform supported villagers, horses, and illagers.
Brewing Recipes
There are two ways to brew a Zombification Potion:
- Add a Zombie Head to a Potion of Poison II.
- Add a Zombified Totem of Undying to a Water Bottle.
The potion can also be converted into its splash, lingering, and tipped-arrow versions using the standard Minecraft brewing and crafting methods.
Infection-Based Conversion
Pillagers, Vindicators, Evokers, and Witches can become zombified when they are killed by zombie-type mobs.
The following attackers can cause an infection-based conversion:
- Zombie
- Husk
- Drowned
- Zombie Villager
- Zombified Pillager
- Zombified Vindicator
- Zombified Evoker
- Zombified Witch
The conversion chance depends on the game difficulty:
- Easy: 0%
- Normal: 50%
- Hard: 100%
This system allows zombification to happen naturally during combat, including encounters that occur during raids.
When a raider is converted during a raid, its zombified version is removed from the active raid system so that it does not prevent the current raid wave from being completed.
Zombie and Illager Interactions
Zombies and illagers now recognize each other as hostile enemies.
This creates new battles between zombie-type mobs and:
- Pillagers
- Vindicators
- Evokers
- Witches
Zombified illagers also participate in these hostile interactions, allowing infections to spread during combat.
Zombified Pillager
The Zombified Pillager is an undead ranged enemy equipped with a crossbow.
Features:
- Uses a crossbow
- Attacks from long range
- Fires Zombification Arrows
- Can spread the Zombification effect through ranged attacks
- Is classified as an undead mob
Zombified Vindicator
The Zombified Vindicator is a powerful undead melee attacker equipped with an iron axe.
Features:
- Uses an iron axe
- Deals strong melee damage
- Can temporarily disable shields
- Is classified as an undead mob
Zombified Evoker
The Zombified Evoker is an undead spellcaster that retains the ability to summon evoker fangs.
Features:
- Summons evoker fangs to attack enemies
- Regenerates health while injured
- Resists most status effects
- Is classified as an undead mob
- Drops the Zombified Totem of Undying
Zombified Witch
The Zombified Witch is an undead potion-based enemy.
Features:
- Throws Splash Zombification Potions
- Drinks Fire Resistance Potions when threatened by fire
- Drinks Healing Potions when injured
- Drinks Swiftness Potions when chasing distant targets
- Uses healing potions against zombie-type mobs
- Is classified as an undead mob
Because zombie-type mobs are undead, Instant Health damages them instead of healing them.
Zombified Totem of Undying
The Zombified Totem of Undying is a corrupted version of the original Totem of Undying.
When the player receives fatal damage while holding the totem, it is consumed and prevents the player from dying.
When activated, it:
- Sets the player’s health to 1
- Removes the player’s existing status effects
- Grants Regeneration II for 45 seconds
- Grants Absorption II for 5 seconds
- Grants Fire Resistance for 40 seconds
- Applies Hunger I for 2 minutes
- Causes most monsters to ignore the player for 5 minutes
The monster-avoidance effect does not affect the Wither.
A monster that is attacked by the protected player can still fight back, even while the monster-avoidance effect is active.
Additional Information
The four zombified illagers are undead mobs and use their own textures, attributes, equipment, and combat abilities.
They do not spawn naturally in biomes. They can currently be encountered through:
- Zombification Potions
- Zombification Arrows
- Infection-based conversions
- Spawn Eggs
