True Fishing

True Fishing replaces vanilla Minecraft fishing with interactive minigames, tiered rod progression, custom baits and hooks, 30 fish species, cooking recipes, and a wandering merchant.

Crafting

Rods

  • Wood Fishing Rod:

    • 3 Sticks + 2 Strings + 1 Iron Nugget (diagonal rod shape)
    • Minigame: Classic balance bar (keep the green bar over the fish).

  • Bamboo Fishing Rod:

    • 3 Bamboo + 2 Strings + 1 Iron Nugget
    • Minigame: Fast rhythm QTE (hit A, D, or Space as notes enter the target ring).

  • Iron Fishing Rod:

    • 3 Iron Ingots + 2 Strings + 1 Iron Nugget
    • Minigame: High-speed winch tachometer dial (press Space when the needle hits the colored zone).

  • Diamond Fishing Rod:

    • 3 Diamonds + 2 Strings + 1 Iron Nugget
    • Special: Enables End Void fishing.
    • Minigame: 2D optical tracker (follow the moving fish with your mouse crosshair).

  • Netherite Fishing Rod:

    • Smithing Table: Netherite Upgrade Template + Diamond Rod + 1 Netherite Ingot
    • Special: Immune to lava. Enables Nether lava and End Void fishing.
    • Minigame: Monster duel (parry surges with A/D, then mash Space while stunned).

Hooks

(Hooks are reusable. To mount a hook, right-click your rod with the hook in your inventory)

  • Barbed Hook (x4): 1 Iron Nugget + 1 Flint
    • Effect: Reduces fish escape speed and stabilizes line tension.
  • Magnetic Hook (x2): 1 Iron Ingot + 1 Redstone Dust
    • Effect: Increases chances of rare fish and sunken treasure relics.
  • Luminous Lure (x4): 1 Iron Nugget + 1 Glowstone Dust (or Glow Ink Sac)
    • Effect: Attracts deep-sea and nocturnal fish species.
  • Heavy Sinker (x4): 1 Iron Ingot + 1 Cobblestone
    • Effect: Sinks quickly to the bed floor to target giant bottom-feeders.

Baits

(To attach bait, right-click your rod with a stack of bait in your inventory)

  • Earthworm: Dug up from dirt, grass, or podzol with any shovel.
    • Targets: General river and lake freshwater fish.
  • Breadcrumbs (x8): 1 Bread in crafting grid.
    • Targets: Peaceful fish (Carp, Guppy, Clownfish).
  • Minnow Bait (x2): 1 Small Fish in crafting grid.
    • Targets: Predators (Pike, Walleye, Perch, Tuna).
  • Feather Fly Lure (x4): 1 Feather + 1 String + 1 Iron Nugget
    • Targets: Trout and King Salmon.
  • Meat Scrap (x4): 1 Raw Meat (Beef, Porkchop, Mutton, or Chicken)
    • Targets: Piranhas, Catfish, and tropical river carnivores.
  • Magma Worm (x2): 1 Earthworm + 1 Magma Cream
    • Targets: Nether lava fish.
  • Ender Essence (x4): 1 Earthworm + 1 Ender Pearl
    • Targets: Void dwellers in The End.
  • Glowing Spore: Found in lush caves, glow berry vines, or cave growths.
    • Targets: Blind Cavefish, Anglerfish, and subterranean species.

Utility

  • Fisherman's Compendium: 1 Book + 1 Feather + 1 Ink Sac
    • Personal record book tracking all 30 species, records (weight, length, catch count), and bait preferences.
  • Tackle Box: 3 Iron Ingots (top) + 4 Planks (sides/bottom) + 1 Chest (center)
    • Dedicated storage for rods, baits, hooks, and fish.
  • Fish Plaque: 8 Planks (border) + 1 Item Frame (center)
    • Wall-mounted display showing the mounted fish, its recorded weight, and the player who caught it.

Cooking

  • Raw Fish Fillet (x2): 1 Any Fish in crafting grid.
  • Cooked Fish Fillet: Smelt raw fillet in a furnace or smoker.
  • Sashimi Platter: 1 Raw Fillet + 1 Kelp / Seagrass + 1 Bowl
    • Buff: Grants Speed & Haste.
  • Fisherman's Chowder: 1 Cooked Fillet + 1 Potato + 1 Carrot + 1 Bowl
    • Buff: Grants Water Breathing & Dolphin's Grace.
  • Sturgeon Caviar (x2): 1 Beluga Sturgeon + 1 Bowl
    • Buff: Grants Luck & Night Vision.

Fish Species

  • Freshwater: Perch, Carp, Northern Pike, Rainbow Trout, Giant Catfish, Walleye, Beluga Sturgeon, Mud Guppy, King Salmon.
  • Ocean: Clownfish, Bluefin Tuna, Pacific Sailfish, Blue Marlin, Broadbill Swordfish, Great Barracuda, Ocean Sunfish, Deep-Sea Anglerfish, Golden Mahi-Mahi.
  • Jungle: Red-bellied Piranha, Giant Arapaima, Electric Eel.
  • Caves: Blind Cavefish, Crystal Tetra, Glowing Axofish.
  • Nether: Magma Fin, Lava Eel, Obsidian Bass, Blaze Snapper (Requires Netherite Rod).
  • The End: Chorus Fish, Void Ray, Cosmic Mini-Leviathan (Requires Diamond or Netherite Rod).

Fish Market

  • Spawns near water bodies or via spawn egg.
  • Right-click to open the market scale GUI. Place any caught fish onto the scale to evaluate its species, weight, and quality tier (Bronze, Silver, Gold, Trophy). Click Sell to cash in for iron, gold, emeralds, or diamonds.
