Changes
Custom mobs, front wheels that steer, and vehicles a plugin can drive
Custom mobs
- New: a custom entity now wears its whole model, and an animated one plays an animation for what it is doing:
spawn, idle, walk, run, attack, hurtanddeath. Map them withanimations:in its file. On death the model stays for its death animation (up to five seconds), then goes. - New:
sounds:(ambient, hurt, death, attack, step),drops:andxp:,damage:,speed:,knockback-resistance:,height:(sizes the hitbox on 1.20.5 and newer),turn:,head-bone:,ai:,burns:andname-visible:. See Entities in FORMAT.md. - New:
/rp egg <id> [player] [amount]gives a spawn egg that hatches that mob where it is used. Permissionrpengine.egg, andrpengine.egg.othersto give one to somebody else. - New: mobs made in Studio arrive with a push or a published pack and are spawned as
studio:<id>. - Changed: a custom mob now drops only what its
drops:lists, never its vanilla loot, does not burn in daylight unlessburns: true, and cannot be bred, tamed, ridden, traded with or turned into another mob. A name tag and a lead still work. - Fixed: a model worn by a mob whose chunk loaded after the server started stood still until a reload.
- Fixed: two custom entities wearing the same model reported it as defined twice.
- Fixed: model parts left behind by a mob removed by another plugin are cleared when their chunk loads.
Models worn by mobs
- Fixed: a model worn by a mob (a custom entity,
/rp bindor MythicMobs'rpmodel) floated above the ground by about the height of the hidden body, and more withheight:. It now stands on the ground for every mob type, at any size, on every supported version. - Fixed: a model on a polar bear no longer leaps two blocks into the air when the bear rears up to attack.
- Fixed: a
.bbmodelsaved by Blockbench 5 (or exported by Studio for ModelEngine) lost all its bones and animations and came in as one still model. Ahitboxbone in it is no longer drawn. - Fixed: a still model worn by a mob now turns with it, and a mob spawned while you looked up or down no longer tilts its model.
- Fixed: a custom mob no longer spawns as a baby or with a jockey riding it.
- Changed:
turn: 0faces the model's North side (Blockbench's -Z) forward, as ModelEngine does. This was always so; FORMAT.md now says it. Mobs from Studio are turned for you.
Icons
- Fixed: an icon or rank tag in an item's lore came out purple (lore's default colour), or grey after
&7, because the game tints a picture with the text around it. Icons in item names and lore, and anything a plugin writes withicons().format(...), now keep their own colours, and the rest of the line keeps its own. - New: an item's
name:andlore:accept:namespace:id:icons.
Minecraft 1.19.4 to 1.20.1
- Fixed: placing a model, sitting down, parking or riding a vehicle, playing an emote, wearing 3D armour, a shader object and several other things threw an error on 1.19.4 to 1.20.1 and did nothing.
- Fixed: a 1.19.4 server with a coloured liquid failed to start after its next restart, because RP Engine wrote liquid colours in a format it cannot read. Below 1.21.6, where liquid colours are not supported, it now writes none and removes the file an earlier version left. Liquids keep vanilla water's colour on those versions, and
/rp liquid fillsays so instead of asking for a restart. - Fixed: on 1.19.4 to 1.20.1 a seated player sat two blocks inside the floor and suffocated. Chairs and vehicle seats now put them where newer versions do.
- Fixed: filling or bucketing a custom liquid, and an item with an attribute modifier, threw an error on 1.19.4 to 1.21.2.
- Fixed: a HUD or shader object from Studio never drew on 1.19.4 to 1.20.1, whose players cannot read the part of the pack it was in.
- Fixed: on servers that drive vehicles with the mouse (Spigot, and anything below 1.21.4), right-clicking the sky to speed up did nothing; only a click on a block counted.
- Changed: the startup report now lists "Emotes from the content folder" as reduced below 1.21.4, where no emote rigs are baked, and a vehicle rider's warning says so instead of asking you to sync from Studio.
- Changed: Text Effects say at load that they will not draw on 1.19.4 to 1.20.1 when the pack already has its own text shader.
Vehicles
- New:
steering:on a vehicle names an animation that is posed to where its front wheels point, rather than played: full lock left at its start, straight in the middle, full lock right at its end. A vehicle'sturningstate cannot tell left from right, so until now its wheels could only steer one way. It goes on top of whatever else is playing, so a spinning wheel keeps spinning while it steers. See Steering. - New for plugin developers:
Vehicle.drive(keys)drives a vehicle as though somebody in the driver's seat were holding those keys, with nobody in it, for computer racers and demo laps.Vehicle.carry(entity, seat)sits a figure that isn't a player, such as a mannequin, in a seat. See A driver that isn't a player.
0.2.50: The update notice shows once per start
- Changed: RP Engine now checks SpigotMC for a newer version once, a few seconds after the server starts, instead of every six hours, so a server that stays up is no longer reminded on a timer. Ops who join later are still told.
Projects on Modrinth are automatically available through a Maven repository for use with JVM build tools such as Gradle. To learn more about the Modrinth Maven API, click here.
Note: When available, you should use the creator's maven repo instead as it will have transitive dependency information that the Modrinth Maven API does not. You may also end up with duplicate dependencies if you use a mix of Modrinth and non-Modrinth Maven repositories for your dependencies, because the group identifier will be different when served through the Modrinth Maven API.
