⤠LIFELESS
LIFELESS is a datapack inspired by the well-known Lifesteal game mode, where every death has permanent consequences.
Instead of having a fixed amount of health, each player has a number of permanent hearts. These hearts can be lost upon death or gained by eliminating other players.
Every decision matters. Every battle can make you stronger... or bring you one step closer to permanent elimination.
š Available in: Spanish (ES) šŖšø & English (US) šŗšø
⤠How does it work?
Every player starts with 10 permanent hearts.
Whenever a player dies, regardless of the cause:
š They lose 1 permanent heart.
Their maximum health is automatically reduced to match the number of hearts they have left.
If the player was killed by another player:
⤠The killer steals 1 permanent heart from the victim.
This increases the killer's maximum health while permanently reducing the victim's.
⤠Heart Limits
- Minimum: 1 heart.
- Starting: 10 hearts.
- Maximum: 20 hearts.
No player can exceed 20 permanent hearts, no matter how many players they eliminate.

ā Elimination
When a player loses all of their hearts and dies again:
ā They are automatically eliminated.
Once eliminated:
- They are switched to Spectator Mode.
- They are moved to the SPECS team.
- A global message announces their elimination.
- The Pigstep music disc is played for every player on the server.
- A small grave with particles appears at the place where they died.

š« No Heart Recovery
Unlike many other Lifesteal-inspired datapacks, LIFELESS does not include any alternative way to recover hearts.
This means:
- ā No items exist to transfer hearts between players.
- ā Hearts cannot be crafted using custom recipes.
- ā Hearts cannot be gifted or traded.
- ā There are no mechanics that allow players to recover hearts artificially.
⤠The only way to gain a heart is by eliminating another player.
This design creates a much more challenging and balanced experience where every fight has meaningful and permanent consequences.
This behavior is inspired by the original LifeSteal SMP series, where players also had no way to craft, transfer, or give away hearts outside of the core kill mechanic.
š HUD
While playing, you'll always have an Action Bar displaying real-time information.
It shows:
- š¤ Your username.
- ⤠Remaining hearts.
- ā Kills.
- ā Deaths.

š¬ Custom Messages
LIFELESS includes several custom messages and visual effects to improve the gameplay experience.
When a player dies:
ā A title is displayed on their screen.
š A custom sound is played.
š¬ A global chat message announces who died and how many hearts they have remaining.
When a player eliminates another player:
⤠The killer receives a message informing them that they gained a heart, along with their new total.
