Applied Smelting
ME Network Smelting: Put furnace processing on the grid.
About
Applied Smelting is an add-on for Applied Energistics 2 that brings furnace processing directly into ME networks.
Rather than transferring materials between storage and separate furnaces, the ME Smelter finds compatible inputs in ME storage, processes them, and returns the finished products directly to the system. Multiple ME Smelters on the same network share a work queue and process different recipes in parallel, all managed from a dedicated ME Smelting Terminal.
Applied Smelting is currently in beta. Recent releases focused on network-wide scheduling, flexible fuel selection, and a clearer terminal interface, with recipe browsing and more advanced processing controls planned for future releases.
Features
- ME Smelter — Automatically processes furnace-compatible items stored in an ME network
- ME Smelting Terminal — Queue recipes, watch them process live, and control connected ME Smelters from one interface
- Multi-smelter scheduling — Connect more than one ME Smelter and they'll split up queued recipes and work them in parallel, rather than competing over the same item
- Recipe pinning — Right-click an ME Smelter with a smeltable item to lock it onto that recipe, independent of the shared network queue
- Flexible fuel selection — Choose a smelting fuel from ME storage or straight from your own inventory, with support for any modpack's fuels, not just vanilla
- Two power modes — Run smelters on conventional furnace fuel, or switch individual machines to draw AE power directly instead
- Upgrade support — Acceleration, Energy, Fuel Efficiency, Capacity, and Redstone cards let you tune speed, power draw, fuel duration, queue size, and redstone behavior per machine
- Storage targets — Set a target amount for any queued item and the network will stop smelting once it's met
- Direct storage integration — Inputs are extracted from ME storage and completed outputs are returned automatically
- Standard furnace recipes — Supports compatible vanilla and modded furnace recipes
- AE-inspired appearance — Designed to fit naturally alongside existing ME devices while retaining its own furnace-focused visual style
Recipe browsing, quantity-based job submission, and more advanced redstone/queue controls are planned for future beta releases.
...and more still to come.
