⚡ About the Mod
Mindset Mod brings your character's emotional state to life. No more mindless grinding – every action, from what you eat to who you kill, affects your mood. And your mood, in turn, determines how well you fight, mine, and survive.
But that's only half the story. At world creation, you choose your character traits – permanent strengths and weaknesses that shape your entire playthrough. Want to be fearless? Go ahead. But you'll pay for it. No free lunches.
🧠 What's Inside
- Dynamic mood system – 7 tiers, from Euphoria to Despair, each with unique effects.
- 6 character traits – positive and negative, with real trade-offs and conflicts.
- Custom effects – Fear, Fright, Tripping, Despondency, Shortness of Breath, and more.
- Trait selection GUI – live preview of starting mood, clear conflict warnings.
- JSON config – tweak values to your liking.
🎭 Getting Started
When you create a new world, you get 3 trait points. Pick positive traits – they cost points. Or take negative traits – they give you extra points to spend on positives. The catch? You can't take more than 3 negatives, and no more than +6 bonus points.
Your starting mood is the sum of your traits' base values, clamped between -15 and +15. The GUI shows exactly what you're getting as you build your character.
🌡️ How Mood Works
Mood shifts with everything you do:
Increases:
- Killing a hostile mob – +1
- Eating tasty food (cake, golden apple) – +2
- Eating regular food – +1
- Discovering a new biome – +5
- Sleeping in a bed – +1
- Healing a mob – +3
- Surviving with a totem – +5
Decreases:
- Taking damage – -1
- Dying – -30
- Killing a passive mob – -3
- Killing a villager or iron golem – -25
- Eating bad food – -2
Each mood tier brings its own effects – from Speed and Luck buffs to damage penalties and movement debuffs.
⚠️ 5 custom effects
- Fear I and II – trembling hands, chance to deal less damage or miss entirely.
- Despondency – vignette darkening, Weakness for 10–30 seconds.
- Tripping – in Despair, you can trip while sprinting, lose HP, and break your pace.
- Fright – camera shake, attack delay, mood loss.
- Shortness of Breath – after tight spaces, you can't sprint.
