Death Respawn Notifier
Know where your last journey ended.
A fall on a mining trip leaves you back at your bed. Keep the death location so you can plan a return, check where you respawned, and see whether your friends are still on the death screen.

Features
Plan a return to the accident
With the client mod installed, the death screen shows the dimension and coordinates of the accident. Note them before respawning, then use them to find your way back.
Client feature · also works in solo worlds

Aldren dies at the mining site, away from the bed at home. The death screen records the accident’s location.
Help a friend find the death location
Server death messages can include the dimension and coordinates. A surviving teammate can read the location in chat and help with the return trip.
Server feature · death coordinates enabled in this example

From the cabin, Aldren reads the location of Mira’s mining accident in chat.
Check where you returned
After respawning, a brief notice above your hotbar confirms your new location. Useful when you have several beds or your previous spawn point was unavailable.
Example: respawn coordinates on · mod broadcasts off

Back at the cabin, the respawn notice shows the new spawn location—not the mining accident.
See who has not returned yet
Open Tab to see a marker beside a player who has died and has not respawned. Your group can wait for them before continuing.
Server feature · joining players need no mod

Mira’s marker in the player list shows she has died and has not respawned yet.
Quickstart
Death Respawn Notifier runs in Minecraft Java Edition with Fabric. Bedrock Edition is not supported. Choose a release for your Minecraft version; the examples on this page use 26.3.
I play solo
- Install Fabric Loader for your Minecraft version.
- Put this mod and Fabric API in your game’s
modsfolder. Add Mod Menu for the in-game settings shown above. - Launch the Fabric profile, open your world, then use Mods → this mod → Configure to choose your settings.
I host a server
Install Fabric Loader on the server, then put this mod and Fabric API in its mods folder and restart it. The server provides the shared features to joining players. To edit the server settings in game, install this mod, Fabric API, and Mod Menu on your computer too, then join with operator permission. You can also edit the server config file and restart the server.
I join someone else’s server
If the server has this mod, you receive its death/respawn chat, respawn notices, and dead-player markers without a client install. Install the mod on your computer for the death-screen location and personal respawn settings. Those personal features can also work without the server mod; shared broadcasts and markers cannot.
Compatibility
Fabric API is required wherever this mod is installed. Mod Menu is optional and runs on your computer. In a solo world, your game also runs the world’s server, so you can use the shared features and edit their settings locally.

Make it yours
Decide what gets shared and what stays on your own screen. Server Config controls death/respawn chat and player-list markers. Client Config controls your death screen and personal respawn notice; your death-screen preferences do not change anyone else’s.
- Install Mod Menu alongside this mod and Fabric API on your computer.
- Open Mods → select this mod → Configure. Choose Client Config for personal display settings or Server Config for the world.
- Choose the controls you want and press Save. Server changes apply to the running world.
Mod Menu is optional client software and the main in-game settings entry. Install this mod, Fabric API and Mod Menu on your computer; open Mods, select the mod, then Configure.
Who can change what? Server Config controls the world hosted by this installation. You can edit a solo world; remote changes require the mod on the server and operator permission. Other players can inspect received settings. From the main menu, Server Config edits local hosting defaults, not a remote server.
Client Config affects this computer. Inherit from Server Config follows overlapping server settings; Enabled uses your personal values; Disabled turns off your client features. Locks identify inherited or unavailable controls. Client-only features remain personal. Child controls appear when their parent feature is enabled.
Save and recover. Changes stay in a draft until Save succeeds. Done asks before discarding an unsaved draft. Defaults resets the editable scope in the draft; press Save to apply it. Wait for pending saves to finish. If permission or connection is lost, read the status and reconnect or regain permission before retrying.
Settings reference
Feature modes · Personal and world
Control shared death/respawn features and your personal display separately.
Defaults: Server features on; Client Config inherits.
Server Enabled/Disabled and Client Inherit/Enabled/Disabled. A personal mode does not change other players' broadcasts or Tab markers.
Death screen · Personal
Keep the place you died visible on your death screen. This display remains personal even when overlapping settings inherit.
Defaults: Death details, dimension and coordinates are on.
Show death-screen details; Add dimension; Add coordinates. Coordinates describe the death, not your next spawn. The screen is absent when Minecraft's immediate-respawn rule is on.
Respawn reminder · Personal and world
Optionally confirm where you arrived after respawning.
Defaults: Reminder, dimension and coordinates are off.
Show respawn action bar; Add dimension; Add coordinates. These describe the new spawn point and do not locate dropped items.
Death broadcasts · World
Share the death location in chat so friends can help.
Defaults: Broadcast, dimension and coordinates on.
Broadcast death; Add dimension; Add coordinates. The server supplies the shared message.
Respawn broadcasts · World
Let others know a player has returned.
Defaults: Broadcast on; dimension and coordinates off.
Broadcast respawn; Add dimension; Add coordinates. This is independent of the personal action bar.
Dead markers · World
Mark a player who is still on the death screen in the Tab list.
Defaults: Dead markers on.
Show dead markers. The marker clears after respawn or disconnect and composes with Dimension Notifier's dimension label.
Try it in your world
These are instructions using existing controls, not preset buttons.
Find the place you died
- In Client Config → Death Screen, keep details, dimension and coordinates enabled; Save if changed.
- On death, note that location before respawning, or use the shared death broadcast if the host enables it.
- Return to the recorded dimension and coordinates. A respawn reminder gives your new location instead.
What you should see: The death screen and death broadcast identify the death location; neither restores items.

Client Config: death-screen dimension and coordinates are on. The personal respawn action bar is off in this example.

Server Config, page 1: shared respawn notices and death broadcasts include dimension and coordinates.

Server Config, page 2: respawn chat omits location details; the dead marker remains enabled in the Tab list.
Config file
After first launch, edit config/death-respawn-notifier.json. File edits need a game or server restart; Mod Menu changes apply immediately where editable.
