Vein Miner is one of the most famous Minecraft datapacks, and it’s also one of the most popular features in Minecraft mods. But today, we’re bringing Vein Miner into a datapack!
So, what does it do?
When you mine any type of ore with a pickaxe, Vein Miner can break the entire vein for you. If you’re standing normally and mine an ore, the whole connected vein will be broken at once.
However, if you’re crouching, Vein Miner will only break the single ore you mined. This gives you full control over when you want to use the vein-mining feature.
The datapack works with every pickaxe, as long as the pickaxe is capable of mining that particular ore in normal Minecraft. For example, a wooden pickaxe won’t be able to mine an iron vein, and a stone pickaxe won’t be able to mine diamond ore. A diamond pickaxe, on the other hand, can mine every type of ore that requires a lower-tier pickaxe.
There is also an interesting situation with gold pickaxes. A gold pickaxe can mine certain ores, such as coal and iron, but because of Minecraft’s normal mining rules, some ores won’t actually drop their resources when mined with the wrong tool. So keep that in mind!
One limitation of this datapack is that normal ores and their deepslate variants are treated as separate veins. In a typical Minecraft mod, both versions can be included in the same tag, allowing them to be mined together. With this datapack, however, deepslate ores and regular ores have to be mined separately.
For example, if you have a large iron vein containing both regular iron ore and deepslate iron ore, you’ll need to mine one type first and then mine the other type separately. It might sound a little inconvenient, but I don’t think it will bother you too much while playing.
Overall, I really hope you enjoy this Vein Miner datapack!
