Caucasus Giant Race Description The Caucasus Giant is a custom race for the Origins mod in Minecraft 1.20.1, designed to embody the archetype of a hulking, incredibly strong, yet intellectually slow schoolyard bully. This race focuses on a resource-based combat system with impactful area-of-effect abilities, balanced by significant physical and cognitive weaknesses that create a unique and humorous playstyle.
Core Concept & Gameplay The player takes on the role of a massive, lumbering student whose primary resource is Rage. Rage is accumulated by dealing and taking damage, fueling powerful, screen-shaking attacks. The core loop involves wading into combat to build up rage, then unleashing devastating moves to control crowds or eliminate single targets. However, the Giant's massive size and low intellect impose permanent drawbacks, requiring strategic positioning and item management.
Key Mechanics & Resource Rage Resource: A dedicated resource bar (0-100) displayed on the HUD. It fills by 5 points when the player takes damage and 10 points when they kill an enemy.
Resource Management: High rage unlocks the most powerful abilities but also triggers passive visual effects, indicating the Giant's escalating fury.
Active Abilities The race features four distinct active abilities, each mapped to a different key for quick access:
Desk Slam (Primary): Costs 25 Rage. The Giant slams an imaginary desk, dealing 8 damage and applying Nausea and Weakness to all enemies within a 5-block radius. Cooldown: 3 seconds.
Stomp (Secondary): Costs 15 Rage. The player must be on the ground. This creates a shockwave within 8 blocks that knocks enemies back and applies Slowness II for 5 seconds. Cooldown: 4 seconds.
Schoolyard Charge (Tertiary): Costs 30 Rage. The player dashes forward, knocking back enemies in their path and gaining brief damage resistance. Cooldown: 5 seconds.
Wallop (Quaternary): Costs 10 Rage and requires a Diamond or Netherite Axe in the main hand. A devastating 20-damage raycast attack on the first entity in front of the player, accompanied by explosion particles and sound. If the player lacks the required axe, a humorous error message is displayed. Cooldown: 1 second.
Passive Abilities & Visual Effects Passive traits reinforce the Giant's physical presence and slow wit, enhanced by custom particle effects:
Massive Body: Provides +15 hearts, +4 base damage, and high knockback resistance. Requires the Pehkui mod for a larger model scale.
Heavy Footsteps: When sprinting, the player kicks up stone particles, alerting nearby mobs and creating a visible dust trail.
Rage Smoke: When Rage is above 70, thick smoke particles rise from the player's head, signaling their volatile state.
Angry Reaction: Taking damage with at least 10 Rage triggers a burst of Angry Villager particles.
Confused Sparks: Holding complex items (maps, clocks, compasses) causes spark particles to emit from the player's head, accompanied by Nausea.
Healing Food: While eating, heart particles appear, creating a comical, child-like feeding effect.
Thick Skull: Reduces fall damage taken by 50%.
Weaknesses The Giant's power is balanced by significant drawbacks that define its "dumb" character:
Slow Learner: Gains 50% less experience from all sources.
Sluggish Giant: Base movement speed is permanently reduced by 20%.
Clumsy Giant: Mining speed is reduced by 30% when not using the correct tool.
Book Dumb: The player cannot use Enchanting Tables or Anvils. Attempting to do so is blocked, and being near them inflicts Nausea and a chat warning.
Confused: Holding a map, clock, or compass periodically inflicts Nausea.
Slow Thinker: Every 30 seconds, the player becomes distracted, suffering Slowness and Mining Fatigue for 5 seconds.
Loud Footsteps: Sprinting reveals the player's position by applying a Glowing effect to nearby mobs.
Village Fear: Villagers within 10 blocks are slowed in the player's presence.
Intended Use & Balance This race is designed for players who enjoy a tanky, melee-focused brawler with area denial capabilities. The resource management of Rage and the requirement of a high-tier axe for the ultimate attack ensure that the Giant is not overpowered early-game. The numerous cognitive and physical weaknesses provide a constant source of challenge and role-playing humor, making every victory feel earned despite (or because of) the Giant's limitations. All mechanics are implemented using standard Origins and Apoli power types, ensuring compatibility with Minecraft 1.20.1.
